Rangers specialize in direct action, which is attacking and destroying targets. the operate in platoon (30 man) up to battalion size groups (500+ man). They are basically highly trained and motivated infantrymen. After graduating AIT and Airborne school you will go to a the Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP) a 3 week gut check to weed out the weaklings and then off to a Ranger batalion. You can go to the Rangers right out of AIT.

Army Special Forces (SF) have the missions of Unconventional Warfare (training people to fight an occupying force or government), Foreign Internal Defense (assisting a government's military to fight an insurgency); and Direct Action. Special Forces training is specialized and lasts from 6 months to 18 months based on your specialty. SF soldiers are experienced soldiers from another MOS (occupational specialty) who volunteer for a 3 week selection course and then are selected for a specific SF MOS. SF operates in 12 man teams as opposed to the larger Ranger units.

What are trying to ask? What is the difference between the Army Rangers and the rest of the Special Operational Forces, which includes SEALs, Air Force PJs, etc... Or are you trying to ask. What is the difference between Rangers and Army Special Forces commonly known as the "Green Beret". I'll answer both of them. There is a long list of things that are different between every Special Operational Forces. SEALs specialize in water operation, Rangers in light infantry, rapid deployment, and airfield seizure, and Air Force PJs are specialists in conducting rescue missions in hostile territory . They all are trained in different a different area of operation which is why they are all important. Now the difference between Army Special Forces, "Green Beret", is that SF are trained to be behind enemy lines to work with the locals and to create an army to over throw the government. They are specialized in other tasks, but that's there main job. Rangers, like I said, are light infantry, rapid deployment, direct action, airfield seizure. You deploy Rangers when you want something done fast by well trained soldiers by the means of air, sea, or land or you want to secure a landing strip to deploy supplies and reinforcements.

Dude a little tip: When you want to talk about the SEALs, Air Force PJs or any other unit that is not Green Beret; you say Special Operational Forces or SOP. If you want to talk about the Green Berets, then you say Special Forces or SF.

Hey! I did a study on height and there's a lot of girls out there that have this kind of problem. The average height difference in a couple is about 6in, but when you're a foot apart it is a bit of a challenge. I think the best thing is to make eye contact with him before you kiss, so he knows what you want. Then if you stretch up a bit he will bend down to meet you and it will be ok. Other practical ideas about steps etc are also good. If the height issue is a big one for you, I do have loads of ideas on how to look taller than you really are. If you want to chat more then you can contact me through my profile! Simon ;-)
