Police is asking a copy of bill for lodging FIR. I do not have the bill/receipt of the mobile. What to do? Is there any way I can convince the police to register the FIR?

What for you are wasting time here, imediately go & give a written complaint about the theft of this cell sim card with the nearest police station where you reside. The officer in charge will put the stamp & signature on this complaint which is enough for you to get the previous sim card de-activated & new sim card issued to you with same cell phone number on nominal payment. This happened with me I got this thing done within an hour & got a new sim card, although this was with my Airtel number but ever service provider follow this process only. Don't take risk of the old sim card as it can be used by some terrorist for illegal activities & you will be in great trouble then, as it happens to be in your name.

Send a mail immediately to cop@vsnl.net , with the following details,
1) Mobile Model
2) IMEI
3) Mobile number Address
4) Communication number.

Hopefully you can take this mail print out to BSNL.

Other service providers ( Airtel, Aircell, Hutch) does not need all these procedures. Only a call to Customer care will diactive the sim in few seconds...

Why the Hell BSNL is troubling its customers ?
