Is it our job to find it, to uncover it, to learn it, to unravel it, to somehow, someday, somewhere discover it --- and then live up to it?

If Life had a Point, who would assign it one? And if you say God, why would God create the Point, then make us all search for it for 50 years! (And, as a society, for 50 thousand years) And if you say God does not make us search, but has given us the answer, why did God not give us the answer in a way in which we could easily understand it, and with a formula upon which we could all agree? And if you say that God has done that, then you have not looked at the world lately.
No. God has not done that. And the reason God has not told us what the Point of Life is, is that there is no Point to Life. Life is pointless.

Life points to the grave.

There's no spirituality gene that tells you your purpose either.
Perhaps there's no God at all.
If true there is no God then I still find the delusion fun and happy.

So here we stand sentient beings in the cold dark void of space.
What do we do?

We hope and we continue. We drop what's false like lying doctrines that pit us against reality and each other and we hold on to reason based on best evidence and we continue to hope for a bigger picture solution that's beyond our barely sentient sciences.

You do realize we discovered antibiotics less than 100 years ago and that 150 years ago doctors weren't sure that washing their hands was a good idea before surgery.

We've come a long way and we'll continue.

I feel loved, so I believe in God. I'm sane so I believe in science. I'm human so I believe I'll die.

Good luck...

The point is this: After the Fall, the body dies gradually, the body contained death process is time given for men to repent and get back on track with God - it's called the Grace and Mercy of God.

After this time of Grace what ever you choose to live by; whether it be by Faith in the Son (Word) of God or the words of Men(Serpent) - will determined your destiny and formed your character which you take with you for eternity.

God has already done it for you, and Jesus is our Savior..Imagine how it would be if Jesus did not die for your sins.....Imagine what life will be like when HE returns...ARE YOU LIVING the way we have been instructed to do in the Holy Bible? If not, than life does seem pointless....
Give it a try.....God's plan was made for you because he MADE YOU and everything for you! AND he did it all so we would worship and serve HIM......God Bless!<><

The point of life is to utilise and explore the amzing gift of an enquiring and knowledge hungry mind, and to apply this knowledge in a respectful manner to the world we live in, achieve great things, and to share it with happy and healthy offspring, and their offspring, so they may have the opportunity to stand on the shoulders of intellectual giants before them..
...and to be happy doing it..

We really do live on through the legacy of our children, isn't that enough..!

Embracing the thought of an imaginary afterlife only stifles these noble quests, and is intellectually destructive..

Your question, whether it is our job to find it ..., presupposes a God. If there is no God, there is no point to anything and there is nothing out there to find. No God means no point to life.

So if you presuppose a God, wouldn't it make sense to seek and find God? I think the purpose, meaning and point of life is to seek God, to find Him and to find our joy in Him.

Revelation 20:11-16 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
Public Domain

11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

As long as we can do something or make a difference in somebody else's life , even how small, then there is a point.

"We are all part of the One Spirit. When you experience the true meaning of religion, which is to know God, you will realize that He is your Self, and that He exists equally and impartially in all beings."

I think it is our job to find it ourselves. Finding a way to be at peace with yourself and others is a good place to start. After that life's a piece of cake. Or is it a bowl of cherries. Mmm...cherries.
