The Constitution of the Philippines is the supreme law of the Philippines. The Philippines has undergone several constitutions since the declaration of independence in 1898. The Constitution currently in effect was promulgated in 1987, and is popularly known as the "1987 Constitution". It was formulated following the ascendancy of Corazon Aquino to the presidency in 1986.
