When you quit smoking, you have to supplement the hand to mouth and sucking in smoke addiction with something. Most people do this with food. Hence, they gain weight. Try sugarfree candy.

I just quit smoking a little over 5 months ago. And I have gained 25 pounds. I am not happy about this at all! With me, when I smoked and was hungry between meals, I would have a cigarette and that would curb my appetite. Now when I am hungry, I eat something. I don't get enough exercise either.

But my doctor said I would have to gain 100 pounds to be as bad off healthwise as I was when I was smoking. So I am very glad I quit.

With no longer having to work two jobs to support your habit
there is far less psyhical effort to making a living
So, the lack of all that extra excercise and effort means more time sitting inactive -- thus, you gain weight !!!!
