We speak english because:
1. Its the most useful language in the world.
a. It has the simplest and most regular verb system. Very few
verbs are irregular. (compare that with french and spanish)
b. It is the most widely spoken language on earth. It is the
official language of england, ireland, united states,
canada australia, new zealand, singapore, philipines,
israel (two
official languages there). south africa, india, gambia,
sierra leone, nigeria, ghana, malta, kenya, tanzania,
belize, bahamas, jamaica, guyana.
c. It is compulsory to learn it in all schools in denmark,
norway, sweden, holland, so everyone there speaks
it even though its not the official language. And in
Japan they cant find enough people to teach
english to satisfy the demand to learn it.,
d. More books come out every day in english than in all the
other languages of the world put together.
e. Technological writings are EXCLUSIVELY in english.
Since computer technology began in the u.s.a.
anyone who wanted to use computers, or be employed
in computer work, has to know english. Even today
97% of all technological books and publications are
in English, In 25-50 years, most 3rd world nations will
abandon their native languages and speak english
because not knowing english will be associated with
poverty, ignorance and unemployment. Their languages
dont even have any vocabulary to support any
technological concepts.Even most
western nations will be like denmark and norway and
sweden and require everyone to speak english.
The british are a bunch of stuff shirted freaks but you
gotta give them credit about their language. It feeds
the world with progress and knowledge
