I want to know why Rocky fought allot of bums (no bodies)? How is it that he fought more white fighters than blacks? How is it that he fought white fighters who got beat up by black fighters? Also why is it that he fought old washed up champs but never faced a young and eager Sonny Liston??? Im not being racist for everyone to know (I'm a white guy) simply put I just want to know why Rocky didn't fight some of the young and talented fighters of the era.
It was said that after the Moore fight Marciano stated that Moore really hurt him like he was never hurt before with that knock down he suffered early in the fight. Did that scare Marciano and is that why he never fought Floyd Patterson a boxer who was more than willing to get in the ring with Marciano? Why did Marciano retire so sudden he only had 49 fights compared to boxers back then who were racking up over 100 fights? I don't get it I know Rocky was bad *** but I don't think he proved himself amongst the all time greats.

For one he never fought a champion at his peak or a young one at that. Two, what names has he fought? Three what where some of the fighters who Marciano should have fought back then that placed a serious threat? I think his management hand picked his fights with more bums than anything, what do you guys think.
I did allot of research on Marciano because I am an Italian American who gets criticised when asked all these types of questions about why Marciano didn't do this or do that he didn't fight this guy or this guy was too old.
All I am saying is that I know Marciano was good but he never faced a fighter who was at his peak like Marciano was. Marciano fought throw his peak and I think he retired when he felt that he was now under his peak and about to be fighting like a washed up Moore and Louis?
PLEASE REMEMBER, this is not intended to be racist in any way so please to the people who answer no racist remarks. Just straight answers on your thoughts, thank you.

Jazbac buddy why do you insist on showing up in every boxing question??? You obviously know nothing about the sport yet you still seem to type like you do. You my friend are very ill and need to go to the hospital and get some major head rest.
No way in hell will you even come close to winning a debate on Marciano. I'm sorry to say this but you are an idiot and I didn't spend a crap load of years studying the history of boxing to let some kid run in and spread his words of hate for knowledgeable people on the sport of boxing, such as myself, get a real life asshole.
Floyd Patterson wanted a fight with Marciano and D'amoto did as well. D'amoto wanted to prove how much better his peek-a-boo fighter in Floyd was better than Marciano's version. Marciano's management overlooked the fight because not only was Floyd young and skilled , he was trained by D'amoto! Marciano was scared to fight Floyd end of story! Jazbac stay off my Questions ****!

Rocky fought the guys that were available at that time & he beat them I'll give him that. However he did retire at 32 just like you stated & you are right back in those days you look at other greats like Sugar Ray Robinson had over 100 fights, Joe Louis had 74 fights, & Jack Dempsey had 74 fights. He retired with on 49 fights under his belt & after being knocked down by Archie Moore who was 39 at the time & said I'm done. Instead of showing the legendary heart he just hung up the gloves. If he would have hung around a little longer he might have run into Sonny Liston who would have killed him. He was great in his era but very average in most others.

Ezzard Charles was still a great fighter when he fought Marciano. Marciano would have destroyed Johanssen or Patterson. When interviewed after the Moore fight Marciano stated he was going to fight again. I don't know why he didn't. The amount of training that Marciano did to get ready for fights may have been getting harder and harder for him to do as he got older. Liston had only had 13 fights when Marciano retired. He was still 7 years away from his first title shot. Liston would have given Marciano a hard time if they fought around 1960.

Popular fighters don't have to have good skills or prove those skills to be popular.
It's likely that he retired to take on his television commentator job, probably better pay for less demanding work. And why not go out on top?
Remember Marciano won his first 16 fights by KO, making him very popular and good material for boxing promoters. He also was known for getting knocked down and then getting back up to win and sometimes knocking the opponent out, so he was exciting to watch.
He was a pretty good fighter, and maybe he didn't face the toughest opponents, but he was popular!

You have done your homework on Marciano. Your assement
is right on target. For instance when he faught an old and tired Joe Louis, he was cut up so bad that his corner told him
they were going to stop the fight if he didn't knock out Louis
in the next round. Of course he did just that, knocking Louis
thru the ropes. It was sad in a way, to see that happen to Louis because he was only fighting to pay back taxes that he
supposely owed to the IRS. Rocky was good but we will never
know just how good because of the age of his fighters that he fought. Thanks for being so knowledgable about boxing.

first and foremost, i am not a marciano fan, but the truth of the matter is marciano was in the right place at the right time and he had excellent management and trainers who guided his fights with exact precision and timing, marciano got out of the game because of pressure from his wife which al weil never saw eye to eye with mrs. marciano as far as rockys career...those are the facts my friend !

Not racist? Yeah, right! Everything you said is a lie! Patterson was deathly afraid of Marciano and stayed hiding at Lt. heavy untill Rocky retired. Rocky fought all available fighters both black and white. You have no clue what you are talking about. Why don't you pick up a book if you can, in fact, read? Not wasting any more time on your garbage!

Well it's not his fault that he was born and fought in an era that didn't have much contenders as Ali's era. I guess he retired because he felt like he had nothing to prove and he didn't let anyone especially Patterson to change his mind.

Dominate the heavyweight branch? they might take it down. immediately, the heavyweight branch would not want something. the only actual fighters you're able to be able to desire to coach for are the Klitschkos and anybody reported on that record ought to overcome the Klitschkos without intense conditioning. ordinary easy artwork for the all-time large Heavyweights.
