It's not only possible, it's quite likely.
Your question brings this quote to mind:
"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires." --Susan B. Anthony

Well, you have to separate the facts. A religion is a set of believes of specific Gods, but Aristotle proved the existence of God itself by using only the reason. The ability to have the vision of a being may be a mind trick but are different matters.

It's not a mind "trick". All cultures developed religions. If they were not created by people, but were instead given to us by God himself, wouldn't they all be the same?
Yes, people tend to believe what they want to believe. And people will not believe what they are not ready to believe, no matter how obvious the evidence provided may seem to others.

in basic terms considering the fact which you have faith in Darwinism, does not recommend which you think of the thought of "survival of the fittest" might desire to be exercised in society. In different words the thought of "survival of the fittest" is the theory that for the duration of an unstructured, ungoverned group of human beings, the greater advantageous and greater in a position will flourish, mutually as the susceptible will warfare. If a central authority did not something to guard the susceptible, there may well be a significant lacking element in that society. Liberalism, and notably Socialism, helps offset the end results of the "survival of the fittest" with the aid of leveling the playing container with the aid of taxes.

Agreed. Most people are hopelessly subjective in their thinking, especially when it comes to metaphysical things...
