Under the hood should be a white sticker, the VECI sticker. On it should be listed the actual engine size.

Another simple way to tell is if it has a distributor and spark plug wires, it is either a 5.2 or 5.9. No plug wires , it is 4.7.

On the valve cover on the drivers side is another sticker that should say 5.2 or 5.9.

Another way to tell is look at the 8th digit of your VIN. This identifies the engine. It deciphers to, N=4.7, LY=5.2L, Z=5.9L

One of those ways should tell you which engine you have.

The 4.7 L was a Power-Tech engine, not a Magnum, plus it is an overhead cam engine which should be easy to spot. You have a 5.2 or 5.9 which will be identified on the under hood VECI label.

Look at the 8th digit of the VIN, if it is a Y you have a 5.2. If it says Z you have a 5.9. If it says N your the proud owner of a 4.7. It more than likely is the 4.7.

if you look under the hood there is a white epa tag... in very small print it will state the engine size saying it conforms to epa regulations...or you can take to vin number to local dodge dealers and they will decode and tell you..

write down the VIN number and go to www.carfax.com and look it up, it will tell you what engine it is for free.
