That was very moving. I have found, since we (I live in the US) started fighting in the Middle East that a coffin draped with a Union Jack or a Maple Leaf is the same to me as a coffin draped with the Stars and Stripes--Canada and the UK have been among our closest friends and allies all my life, and I am grateful for their sacrifices.

There are those who say that though the cost of war is great, there are some things worth that ultimate sacrifice. I agree. When Canadian, British, and American troops landed at Normandy on the morning of 6 June 1944, they were fighting for something important. Unfortunately, I fear that cannot be said of the present conflicts where men and women are dying in uniform. Too many people take it too lightly, and that's part of the problem. I think, for many people, it's just another bit on the evening news, something that has happened to someone else in another place. To me, that is a great tragedy.

Canada?Didnt they lose like 4 people so far?

How much effort has canada given in this war?No where even close to the amounts the US and British have given. When you decide to make a legit effort, then ill give you credit.

That may be your country but why dont you post something about all the sacrifices made instead of just your own. It's kind of selfish to come on here and only show sympathy for your own fallen.

you might also ask ...

do we take our freedoms for granted? men died so that we might enjoy the luxury of free speech, deciding our own lives and making choices...

free speech is a luxury many in the world know nothing about...

we don't have death camps...we don't have mass graves....we don't have torture chambers where dissadents spend their final excruciating hours....

we can thank soldiers for that...

we know the cost of war... mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, wives and children know the cost...and are proud of the service their loved ones give to their country....

without those men and women...freedom will not stand...

not in canada...not in the US....

contrary to what those more "liberal" minded individuals would have us believe ...freedom is not free...

Yeah war is hell but what can you do it has been around for the past 3,000 years and I am sure it will be around as long as we humans still exist.
