After Jesus Christ was crucified and died, He was buried in a sepulcher. John 19:41-42 states where they laid the body of Jesus: “Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulcher, wherein was never man yet laid. There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulcher was nigh at hand.” This ends Chapter 19. Chapter 20 opened with the first day of the week to visit the sepulcher.

Jesus was in the sepulcher for three days and three nights. What did He do during this period? According to the Holy Spirit we talk to, He went to the place called Limbo. This is where those who had died holy and righteous were placed because Heaven was still closed. Jesus got the souls in Limbo like Abraham and Jacob and opened the gate of Heaven. He then allowed these souls to enter Heaven, and afterwards destroyed Limbo. Hence, Limbo does not exist anymore. And Jesus opened the gate of Heaven. It signifies that one can enter Heaven where the Father is through Jesus because He said that He is the way and no one goes to the Father except by Him (John 14:6).

Aside from telling us what happened during those three days and three nights while His body was buried in the sepulcher, the Holy Spirit also told us when Jesus was crucified. The date that He gave is August 17 and from one of His sermons, I figured out that the year was 1 BC. I checked out this date August 17, 1 BC and found it to be true and correct after four years of study (1999-2003). I actually first heard August 17 back in 1983. It was only in 1999 when we connected to the Internet that I checked out the date. The results of the study may be found in the website cited below. August 17, 1 BC was a Thursday, the middle of the week which begins on Monday (Daniel 9:27 – “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease …”). The Holy Spirit told us the Sabbath day is Sunday, the seventh day of the week.

'Punter' who wrote the comment above was correct. Check for yourself in the Bible;

It seems that Paul, who was a taxman (baddie) was not at the Crucifixion OR the Resurrection, and yet years later without even knowing Jesus, wrote his stories.

Was there anybody who witnessed the crucifixion or resurrection? NO! Mark 14:50

Nobody saw the moment he was resurrected. Jesus himself stated that he did not die on the cross in Luke 24:36-41

Jesus’ prayer not to die on the cross was accepted by God according to Luke 22:43 and Hebrews 5:7.

And, anyway why would Jesus if on a mission, cry out these words? (My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?) If Jesus stated these words, it represents a blatant declaration of disbelief according to all theological authorities. This is a great insult as such words could only come from an unbeliever in God.

I repeat if Jesus cried out about being forsaken, it could not have been Jesus on the cross. Nobody saw the moment he was resurrected. Jesus himself stated that he did not die on the cross in Luke 24:36-41 How can you not believe him?

It seems that Paul, who was a taxman (baddie) was not at the Crucifixion OR the Resurrection, and yet years later without even knowing Jesus, he wrote his articles.

If you believe in the Bible, you ought to believe the words of Jesus himself, saying he did NOT die on the cross. How does everyone miss these vital parts of the Bible??

And even this: Qur’an 4:157: "That they (Jews) said boasting, "We killed Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah, but they (Jews) killed him not, nor crucified him..."

Research further to find the letter 'J' was not used in that period. So all those with names starting with ‘J’ were not true. The letter ‘J’ and the name Jesus came about around 1,500 years AFTER Jesus had walked on the earth.

It is speculated that he was :

A) In hell
B) In heaven at God's side
C) in a sort of limbo
D) "experiencing" non-existence...

And a few others.

(note RE the "not left in hell" reference... "Not LEFT IN" can mean "Didn't STAY in" Or "was pulled out of"...

The Bible is not really clear about where Jesus's spirit/soul was during that time.

His corporal body was in the tomb.

*************

Note that (typical of Hebrew timekeeping of the era) the "3 days" is not 72 hours.

The first day was the day of crucifixion from time of his death on the cross to SUNSET. (possibly a matter of minutes, as the Jews were wanting the legs of the people on the crosses broken so they would be certain to die before sunset, when the "Sabbath" STARTED. (the Jewish day ends/starts at SUNSET)

The 3rd day was from sunset on Saturday (Sabbath) To not far after dawn Sunday....

The total time in hours... appx 30 to 36... 40 top limit.

That's not a contradiction... that's an explanation of Jewish timekeeping.

In the Grave. In Hell as the Bible says.
Of Jesus Christ the Bible says that he was in hell three days and was redeemed from there. Peter said of Christ: “That his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.” Jonah was another man that was in hell and got out alive unsinged. When swallowed by a big fish, Jonah said: “Out of the belly of hell cried I.” Where was Jonah? In the fish’s belly and there is no fire there. What, then, is hell? The Bible answers that hell is mankind’s common grave. “What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave [the hand of hell..—Acts 2:31, AV; Jonah 2:2, AV; Ps. 89:48, AV; Gal. 1:8, 9.

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
