Or is it just a doctrinal (mans doctrine) form of reverencing the Living Word of God?

( Would not like to debate, Just an answer please).

It's a form of respect for God's word. Like when you're in the army, if a high-ranking official comes by the sgt. will say"attention" so everyone will stand on attention.

It's not actually biblical but it won't take away your salvation if you do or don't stand.

It is found in scripture that Jesus stood to read the Word of God. In Luke 4:16, when Jesus went to the synagogue, He stood to read the Word; also, in Nehemiah 8:5, when Ezra stood to read the Word, everyone rose. Standing is a choice, and in some churches, a tradition, but it is not required.

Yes, you have to stand, bow three times before opening the pages, anoint yourself with magic oil, and a dozen other obsessive-compulsive behaviors. That's because Jehovah, by an amazing coincidence, thinks exactly like a legalistic, anal-retentive Jewish zealot of the Bronze Age...

It is not necessary to stand when reading the Bible. Feel free to do so if it helps you, but it doesn't help me. If you read the Bible ceremoniously, standing may be helpful, it improves the way your voice carries, but otherwise I see no reason not to be comfortable when reading. I don't see a connection between revering God and His Word and our posture. Still, if you don't revere Him standing won't help a bit.

In most churches standing in the sermon is regarded as a form of protest. Only the pentecostals stand for sermons or bible reading.

No, it is not biblical. The bible says nothing about the bible, because it is a collection of stories which, when written, were all separate and not "the bible" as such.
