That's just the way things are. I personally think all these so called mental issues are just a way for psych's to make a buck. There's a label for everything and a pill for everything. There's nothing wrong with a person who likes to stay home on friday nights, or if someone doesn't enjoy certain things. It's just a way to make certain things normal and everything else not. Just because someone doesn't go for a certain fashion trend, or they are into a fashion trend from another culture such as the lolita's of japan, makes them someone desperate for attention. That's whats really wrong, the fact that something must be wrong is becoming an epidemic. It's funny though, how people do that I'm 23 and my sister is 24 she drinks and parties and goes to clubs, I stay at home read books, watch anime, and play video games. To her I'm a weirdo with no life. So what?

Mental illnesses are usually categorized by the DSM-V -- mere "playing videogames" or "watching TV" does not constitute an addiction. Addiction is a complicated psychological condition that cannot easily be described (the same goes for anti-social behavior).
Statistically, one cannot have at least one of every disease, because the probability of contracting/having each disease is independent of all other probabilities. So, you can only calculate your chances for one disease, not the whole gamut.
And finally, if you look at the lifespan for the average person in an industrialized country, lifespans have been increasing over time. So...we're actually surviving longer due to better science/healthcare.

I think that 50 years or so ago we that they had just finished fighting world war 2 and the whole country was trying to heal. They cured something called TB found a medicine for leprosy and created Thorazine. It was a new beginning in so many ways for people because it was a time of renewed hope for people who suffered severely and didn't have a chance no matter what they did. In 1949 TB was the number one killer in the world.

What you are talking about aren't diseases, but disorders. Generally, you find cold hard proof for a disease and what's causing it. A disorder can often only be diagnosed by looking at a list of symptoms and seeing if it fits into a DSM catagory. In my opinion, it probably wouldn't be all that hard to come up with even more new types of disorders given the system they use to create the disorders.

Well a ton of diseases have little to no side effects, and people can live out a normal life with many different types of diseases. A lot of people are able to procreate diseased, and not all diseases are genetic, so their offspring may not get them. Medicine is getting pretty crazy these days, with some diseases being characterized soley by drooping eyelids and uneven pupils with occasional internal seizures... seriously.

Medications were available years ago they were just compounded different than they are today. Yes everything seems to have a label on it. Panic Attacks have been around since the beginning of time they just didn't know how to treat them. Back them most people just learned to deal with it.

Yes, people had panic attacks 50 years ago...most of them cured their problems with drinking alcohol...before that they drank COKE with REAL cocaine in it~!~..People were hardier at the turn of the 20th century because it was, "Make it or Die"....No Welfare to fall back on, and they had to be self sufficient....They were stronger for that and didn't have time to wallow in self-pity!...Diseases have always been since the fall of Adam and Eve....Today with modern medicine, and medical science, we are living longer...
God will always supply our needs, and one day he will return !..There is another life after death and what will determine your fate will be if you decide to accept GOD'S TRUTH....I pray that you will come to know him!....<>< Fear is not from the Lord~!

Actually, people didn't survive. Because of impacted wisdom teeth, most people died at age thirty. However, they had already reproduced, which is why we survived. Most of the things you're talking about aren't fatal, they're just maladaptions to society. They'll correct given enough time: that is, video addicts won't marry and reproduce, weeding out that problem.

We didn't. The life expectancy was much lower. One reason for that was that there was no support system to treat depression or prevent suicide. Suicide happened all the time...but no one talked about it because it was taboo. Now people are finally talking about mental illness and people are actually GETTING BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!
