Estimates put the number killed at OVER 200,000 in genocide and probably MANY MORE yet the US just ignores the problem.
And Al Qaeda is starting to get a foothold in that area again so it should have been in the US interests to keep that region secure.
I don't get it at all.
Finally the UN does something but ITS TOO LATE.
What a bunch of stupid morons.
I bet a bunch of mercenaries could do better.

Like folks have said, it's not in our economic interest (sadly).
If we did go, it should be as part of a joint coalition. The African Union should take the most active role in this situation in terms of troops on the ground. The U.S. is better suited to provide supplies, equipment, and medical personnel, together with the E.U.

Its going to be a United Nations Mission and probably the US will have no part of it, seeing they have their hands full in Iraq and Afghanistan.
You are the stupid moron, as you obviously do not understand how the United Nations work, it is a civilian organization first and foremost, who use members military contributions to help establish peace, they do not invade countries and take over, that is not what the UN is about.
Your comment about mercenaries is as just as stupid, mercenaries fight for money they don't care about the people in the area where they fight, show me any conflict that was resolved by the use of mercenaries?
You would do better to learn about the real world instead of posting such half-a s s e d comments.

The US Military is not providing soldiers as part of the UN Peace keeping mission to Sudan.
The UN can only send Peace Keepers into a country, if that country agrees to allow Peace Keepers.
The Sudan has rejected Un Peace Keepers before now.
Spring Snow, there is oil in the Sudan, alot of oil. Guess that busted your anti Bush/Cheney rhetoric.

Okay, this answer is extremely politically incorrect, but that is okay, because I am, well, politically incorrect.
One of the reasons that we are not intervening in Sudan is because there is none of our interests there. What's there? It's on the edge of the Sahara desert. Sand, perhaps?
While it would be "the right thing to do", as Bill Clinton said, to intervene there, I don't see it happening anytime soon.
I believe someone in that movie Hotel Rwanda put it best when he said... "No one cares about Africa. They sit and watch the atrocities on the nightly news and say that is horrible and go back to eating their dinner." Along those lines
Just my $0.02
Cheers!!

Okay this is the problem here. Why do "we" have to do anything about it. I mean why can't we let Europe take this one were still in a war. Europe has like about a dozen countries that can take over.

the US military will be misused by sending them to another country at war. these are not our wars and we have no place fighting them. we can educate ourselves about the crimes that happen in other countries and focus less on the American celebrities and shopping.

I don't think the US military can even consider it now. They are just too thin and too many people are against the fake war on terror in Iraq now.
