I personally think they are great.
Also the least painful piercing to get as long as it's done correctly.
Just don't stretch them. No one needs a hole that big in their tongue. (Just my opinion)
Oh and as for a job. I have never had any problem with ANY employer because of mine.

It's all up to you! Do your research about Tongue piercing and the tattoo studio that you want to go to. I had my tongue pieced before but took it out after a few days (long story). When they first pierce it, it doesn't hurt. Afterwords is when it hurts. Lots of cold food and drinks. No hott or spicy food. If you decide you are going to get it done eat a good meal before or your going to wish you should've. It also a good idea to bring a friend along with you; it's allot more funner because they can also go threw the pain with you...lol
Anyways...I am getting my tongue pierced for the second time next week along with my best friend. That should be fun!

Its probably my favourite out of all my piercings, and I like to see it on other people.
Dont let other peoples opinions change your mind if you want it done. Do your homework and ask you piercer for advice on aftercare and healing.
To clear a few things up, yes you can chip your teeth, to avoid this wear a bar thats as short as you can go without being tight to your tongue, I wear a bar thats only 10mm long, 5mm (4ga) thick with 8mm bar tips, and rarely tocuh my teeth with it, also you would think that a bigger, thicker heavier tongue bar would cause a lisp, but your tongue gets used to the weight of the bar and how it moves very quickly.
The only time I have a little trouble speaking is if I wear a flesh tunnel.
Good luck :)

i'll tell ya like it is!!! i'm 29, but when i was about 19 or 20 i got my tongue pierced! my tongue healed quick and i was soon good to go!
the one thing about having your tongue pierced is that you are going to find yourself wanting to play with it! you know, rolling your tongue around...constantly.
one day, i was doing just that and with the ball of my bar i broke a big chunk of one of my molars!! it hurt for just a second and i had hot/cold sensitivity for a few days, but nothing...for years!
fast forward to present day. i don't have my piercing anymore...i took it out when i was 25. i just recently starting to get the hot/cold sensitivity again, but a lot worse. went to the dentist and i have to get it filled or it will get worse. i also found out that i have scraped two other molars!!!
i would really think long and hard before getting your tongue pierced. it can cause a lot of damage to your teeth.
if you going to do it, PLEASE do your homework!!! look online on safe piercing practices and go to several different locations. ask a lot of questions!!
if it isn't done right, chipped molars would be the least of your worries!!
good luck!

Honestly, guys prefer piercings on the ear. Tonge and belly piercings can be a real turn-off... but hey, if you're going to choose one, choos the belly, sometimes it can look cute. The tongue is just disgusting, no guy actually wants to kiss a mouth like that...

It doesn't hurt as bad as you think it would
Make sure you go to someone who has a good reputation because there are people out there that don't do it right.
You will need to use listerine for a while to make sure you don't get an infection. about 3 times a day and after every meal.
You can take 800 mg of Ibprophen about 30 min before you get it done and 30 min after you get it done.
Becarefull when you eat because when you chew food your tongue roles and you can bite it and crack your teeth It won't hurt to bad but in the futuer you will have to pay thousands to get a crown because of it.
I speak of experience.

My boy friend got his done and i watched he looked like he was about to cry when he got it done but he said it didn't hurt as bad as the after pain because your tongue is swollen and you cant eat solid food for 24 hours and he kept it for about 2 months then i made him take it out because he didn't clean it properly and it started having a stench to it. Good luck!

lol don't knock it till you try it, almost all of my friends already have or they are getting they tounge pierced i think they are awesome (i'd get one but i'm afraid of needles) they are really good after they heal because at first your tounge swells up and you can't eat certain foods (you'll learn this if you get it done) but once it heals and the swelling goes down everything is okay, and to the person that said you'll have a lisp you won't after it heals unless you had a lisp one before that or you have a wierd tounge ring in all in all they are okay

I've got two tongue rings. I think they're pretty cool but..I don't intend on wearing them forever. Get one for your teen and young adult years..but after that, take it out. Did you know they can cause cancer in your tongue? It's very rare but possible. Thats why I intend on taking mine out as soon as I get out of college.
It doesn't hurt when it's pierced, but it hurts after. It's hard to eat. But, it will heal pretty quickly and you'll like it.

Well there is a common misdeception about chics and tongue rings, but if it's something you want, then do it for that sole purpose, but after all that's why I have mine. There's nothing wrong with them at all.
