Don't know anybody, personally. There was an actor named Rory Calhoun. He was in How to Marry a Millionaire with Betty Grable, Marylin Monroe and Lauren Bacall

Of course, John Caldwell Calhoun (1782-1850) was a well-known South Carolina politician who championed states rights. Calhoun served as Vice President of the United States under both John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson before resigning to serve in the US Senate. He also married a first cousin, once removed, Floride Bonneau Colhoun (spelled with an "o"). The couple had ten children, seven of whom survived to adulthood.

Have your tried googling the "Calhoun Family Genealogy Forum"?

The US Census Bureau
http://www.census.gov/cgi-bin/namesearch.pl
says that 0.02% of the us has that surname. Figuring 250 million people, that is 50,000 americans.
