Hi. I love to snack and if I don't snack I get the shakes. I have always been like this and I am far from overweight. The important thing is what you are snacking on. I know this will sound boring but once you get used to it, it's not so bad. Roasted chick-peas, sultanas, banana, celery and things like this are all healthy and won't stack on the pounds. It takes about 30 days (I think) to break or make a new habit so try it for 30 days and then you'll probably be fine eating this sort of thing.

Snacking is fine and needed but its the snack you chose that has to change. Eat yogurt or fruit instead. Or if that isn't working for you then there are 100 calorie snacks out there you can buy that will help. People have to eat every 3-4 hours to keep up the metabolism. Its the amount that matters.

First, try to figure out WHY you are wanting to eat when you aren't hungry. Are you bored? Anxious? Just in a habit of eating when doing certain things? Try to figure that out. It might help to change your routine. Avoid things that you associate with eating. Keep your hands busy. Maybe even chew some sugar free gum.
Second, snacking really isn't bad for you. Its those snacking choices that become a problem. Stay away from the cookies or chips or anything high in fat and calories. But its fine to have a piece of fruit or vegetables like carrot or celery. Have a small handful of pecans or almonds. Or a rice cake. Just keep the portions very small.

Eat healthily with lots of veggies, lean meat and complex carbs . It will take away most cravings and make you full most of the times. They will increase your metabolism rate and burn more fats.
If you need to snack, eat healthy snacks.
I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs and gain better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs for more than a year.
Details such as meals, healthy snacks, recipes, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog

It helps to eat 5-6 small meals rather than 3 main meals (maybe you're already doing that though?) That way you'll be eating more often so you would be less likely to get that urge to snack.

I have a spray bottle of "Slim Spray Instant." You spray 2-3 times into back of mouth when you feel hungry but do not want to really eat. I actually got it from add on net and they sent free sample. It is peppermint flavor and it works. Surf net for weight loss products.

Stop putting so much pressure on yourself. I know the more I obsess about NOT snacking, the more I do it. Just keep yourself busy, and if you must snack, snack on something healthy.

Try drinking ice water since your real need is probably hydration and you reach for food instead. And as an added bonus your body will burn calories to bring the water temperature up from the cold drink.

snacking is ok if it's healthy, like a fruit, some vegggies, dried fruit or nuts even popcorn and pretzels are OK sometimes.
but if you want to cut out snacks, then drink a mug of tea. it fills you up and zero calorieS! :)
