We must defeat the terrorists by using the term "Jihad" in the correct way.

Terrorists must not be allowed to spread the false information that Jihad means Holy War.

Feeding the poor is a Jihad

Helping the orphan is a Jihad

Speaking out against injustice is a Jihad

The mother carrying a child is a Jihad

Helping the oppressed is a Jihad

Going on the Pilgrimage is a Jihad

Self defense is a Jihad

Supporting and helping ones parents is a Jihad

“Prayer (Salaat) is the BEST Jihad” ?

Any effort/struggle to promote the good and oppose the evil is a Jihad.

The more we Muslims use this term (as it is used throughout the Islamic texts).....the more we can defeat radicals who use this powerful concept of goodness and sacrifice -- for their own political goals which are based on the love of money and power.

Jihad should be used more and more in everyday conversations.

Finally good to see a true and contemporary definition of the most misused and misinterpreted word in recent times not only by the world but sadly also by the Muslims.

I wish every sane Muslim understands the meaning of "Jihaad" the way you have put it in simple words.

Thanks a bunch for contributing the true definition and having the guts to speakup and urge others to follow.

I don't know what to say to this. The term Jihad has such negative connotations in the U.S.---if you live in America, you must know this. I sympathize with you, I really do! But I'm not sure using the term Jihad "more in everyday conversations" is the best way to educate people in the U.S. about your beliefs. When people come to know you as a loving and peaceful individual, then they will be open to hearing about Jihad---that's how we change things, one person at a time----Blessings!

The terrorist in Saudi Arabia, where Bin Ladin came from, is chasing terrorists ALL the time. They are hunting down anyone who supports them or hide them.

It is the media who chooses to spread the bad things about Islam and Muslims, for example:

1 - Right after 9/11, an American channel showed a Palestinian wedding party and said the Palestinians are partying because of what happened in 9/11!!! Right after this news, my American roommate said: Anyone celebrating this should be shot, which is what the media is trying to achieve.
2 - Again in the same night, they showed a Kuwaity party celebrating the end of Iraqi invasion, and they said that they are celebrating the 9/11 attack.
3 - A palestinian little girl says "we want to resist the Israile invasion" the English translation was "We want to blow up Israile!!"

So the Muslims are doing everything in their power to stop terrorists, it is the media who is depicting it other wise for their own benefits.

Perhaps it's time to salvage Islam's Western perception by coming up with a similar-meaning Arabic word that doesn't have as much stigma and animosity attached to it. Leave "Jihad" as the term for wars and bloodshed. And for everything else, use a term that isn't negatively viewed by the rest of the world.

The Muslim terrorists interior the Philippines are alive and correctly, being damaging as constantly. in case you're taking their little ones and ladies away in mass, in twenty years they may well be too old to combat. That what happened to the terrorists in Cambodia. They have been mass killing machines till at last they have been given to old to combat (considering the fact that they could not resupply with sparkling troops) and have been rapidly wiped out after that. it somewhat is unfaithful approximately Muslim terrorists and alcohol. it particularly is particularly an illustration troops have been used to discover terrorists in Iraq (beer in theri refrigerator case in point). That and heroin and steroids. it particularly is one in all the justifications that terrorists look so fearless. they're extreme on heroin.

I LIKE that definition WAY better. But what does the word "Jihad" actually mean, if it is translated into English?

Fundamentally, any and all religious extremism hurt the true faithful of that religion more than any other group. While not Muslim, I applaud your efforts and hope for all our sakes that it contributes to the effort.
