2000 calories per day is about right . . . you only feel like you're starving be cause you're used to eating a lot more than you are. It's hard to say how long it will take you to lose 30 lbs. If you don't notice any weight loss after two weeks, then reduce the amount of calories by about 300 and continue, or start walking for as long as you can each day. The figure most people quote is that 3500 calories is roughly equal to one pound of fat. The healthy maximum rate of weight loss is supposed to be about 2 lbs per week, so don't get impatient and don't go to extremes with your diet. And remember to eat things like whole wheat bread, lean meat, fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts, healthy stuff like that. Junk food will make you feel more tired than you should feel. Carefully monitor what you eat and you should see progress soon. Good luck!

Notice that I said to walk, not to do a whole bunch of exercise. If you exercise, you have to add that to the calories you eat. But given that you weigh 278 lbs, I don't think you'll feel like doing much besides walking or maybe riding a bike. That's why I didn't mention it. When you get closer to 200 lbs you'll probably feel light enough on your feet to start doing some other exercises.

Hi you are probably eating the wrong stuff. Try eating stuff like almonds walnuts salmon and salad on pita pockets wholemeal as snacks. if you are exercising this will help but you will probbaly need to increase your carbs a liitle if you do. 40 mins 4 times a week of cardio. Walk, bike, skip or use a cross trainer, alternate between them or you can use the 20 mins 8/12 bike train system which is 20 minutes per day on a excercise bike you do 8 slow pedals and 12 fast rotational for 20 mins 4 times a week. You need to eat at least 5 times a day so breakfast eg. porridge or wholemeal cereal or 1 scrambeld egg on wholemeal toast with a fruit juice of celery carrot and orange juice will help you reduce bloating of the stomach and reduse fat there. A secret is to drink 250ml of water with a squeeze of lemon juice 15 mins prior to b/fast and this will help you flush your toxins garaunteed. then have your juice then breakfast . After 2 hours have a snack like yoghurt then lunch smoked salmon with salad or a chicken breast salad plenty of greens ad some feta cheese the lower the fat the better 2 hours later have perhaps some walnuts or almond seven to 10 is usually a good amount. Piklets are also a good snack place some manuka honey and walnuts on top 2 limit. keep fruit to a limit of two per day green apples mandarin, try stay off watery stuff like watermelon and celery too much can actually make you hungrier. You need food that have longer lasting fullfillment and these are a few( study low Gi foods) there are plenty of sites or go to www.recipefinder.com.au that will show you different ideas on low fat ,low carb or low Gi foods and recipes you can use so you do not get bored. Good luck . oh never eat before excercising eat aftwards a protein shake is great after a 40 min cardio workout but do not have anything else to eat with it. Drink plenty of water 2 litres per day and 1 extra litre after excercise as you lose fuid by sweating water will help you lose weight quicker.

You are taking the wrong food with the right calories.

Eat healthily with lots of veggies, lean meat and complex carbs . They will increase your metabolism rate and burn more fats. You will feel full most of the time on this diet and you will not have hinger pangs.

I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs and gain better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs for more than a year.

Details such as meals, healthy snacks, recipes, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog

That depends on how much or little exercise you are doing. Don't starve your self, You'll slow your metabolism down and you won't continue to loose weight. Eat reasonable portions of healthy foods, lots of fiber, whole grains and fruit ,low fat protein. And make it a habit to engage in a physical activity you enjoy every day if possible. Good luck with the weight loss.

At that rate, you're really not gonna lose any weight. You also have to exercise to speed your metabolism and burn calories. At least 30 min of cardio exercise a day, even is its just walking, at least 5 days a week. Also weight train at least 2x a week.

Also try drinking at least a glass of water before every meal and snack, it will help fill you up.

***Exercise also curbs your appetite. Try it, it works!!!

It depends on if you are exercising as well. If you are really hungry try eating things like carrotts and celery, these have little to no cals, and will fill you up. Also try fat free cottage cheese, it's wicked good!!
