I find it incredibly silly and asinine that there are all these "thee" and "thou" and all that garbage in the bible. Don't you think that God would like us to rewrite it with modern day talk, and maybe slang?

Maybe more young people will turn to religion if it wasn't so off putting like it is now. Its almost like a direct slap in the face when I try to decipher what the hell is being said. No one talks that way anymore.

There are many versions, some of them can be read as if they were a novel. Just be sure to remember that it is fiction.

The one you are talking about is the orginal version translated from Greek and Hebrew, It's called the King James Bible.

There have been other versions of the Bible re-translated for this very reason, There are some great Translations out there, for easier understanding, even for children. One is called The New Living Bible , there's Todays' New International Version,(TNIV) and the Century English Version (CEV) which is VERY easy to understand. All of these are translated into today's language. I have one that's even called, "The Easy To Read Bible". There is also one that is called The Message Bible, that also speaks in modern language.

That's why there is different translations, but it's all the same Bible, so everyone can understand it. There are also lots of childrens' Bibles now days.

You can find these in some Book stores, at Hastings, and on the internet.

Rewriting the bible won't make that much of a difference because mankind doesn't have a heart for God. I believe even with unquestionable proof staring people in the face they will refuse to believe.

Someone else said this,"if the rapture came and millions of people disappeared there will be those looking for a logical explanation why these people are gone." God holds people responsible for their behavior and people don't like that.

they have easy-to-read versions but some editors may rewrite the Word unintentionally. some people take the bible very literally, while others believe in it loosely. thats why the bible needs to be preserved in the most accurate form so that each person can decide for themselves how they wanna soak in each word and its meaning. to revise the bible may ultimately distort how it was originally written for the people, and this can be very misleading.

The problem with even translating it into english is that it loses a lot of its meaning because the way it was originally written there are some words that we can't translate because we don't have a word that comes even close in English.

It has been, numerous times. I like the version that the University of Chicago put out in 1930.

Consider yourself lucky you don't have to learn ancient Greek just to read it. I know I do.

Besides, don't Christians get ridiculed constantly for "changing" the Bible? You're suggesting we do the same thing that so many of our opponents have said proves that we are a lie.

It has been rewritten a number of times. Read the NIV or the NLT @ http://www.biblegateway.com/versions/index.php?action=getVersionInfo&vid=31#books&version=31;

Please get an NIV Bible and you will find it more readable than the King James Version. Be open when you read it; God is speaking to you in it.
