Jesus says this prophecy in Matthew 16:28, Mark 9:1, and Luke 9:27

All 3 scriptures are followed with Jesus taking Peter, James and John into an high mountain several days later. There Jesus was transfigured and the disciples saw him in his glory. Elias and Moses also appeared, and the three disciples also heard the voice of God.

Does not this Transfiguration fulfill the prophecy?

Some of the sayings attributed to Jesus in the gospels are more likely to have been opinions of the early church; the "character" of Jesus acts as a mouthpiece for those opinions. This sounds like it could be one of those sayings, since many in the early church did expect Christ's Second Coming to occur very soon.

Of course, you could think of the Transfiguration as fulfilling the prophecy. Or, especially in the case of Luke, the rise of the church could be seen as the coming of the kingdom.

Peace, friend.

I don't know if the Transfiguration counts, seeing as Moses and Elijah came down to earth and Jesus didn't go up to heaven.

I pointed out, however, that John had several visions of Jesus in heaven that he recorded in Revelation.

The Bible authors clearly said Jesus would return in their lifetime (within their generation).

They were so convinced that Jesus would return so soon and establish the kingdom of God that their was no need in marrying because things were going to happen so fast..........

They were wrong.
