You are given a book you already own as a gift with the receipt to take it back(because they don't know if you have it).

You walk into the store and expect store credit, they offer cash.
Do you take the cash? (it's a $30 book)
Do you take store credit?

Either way, money can not be put back onto the card it was purchased with.

What do you do?

If I know of another book I would like to buy, then I'd take the store credit. If I would like to spend the money elsewhere, take the money.

i would take either one, it's really up to you. If the book was a gift, then taking the money isn't a bad thing. it's still a gift. but of course, you know the gift giver better than i do, so use your better judgement. if you feel bad about it, take the store credit and buy a book you want that you don't already have. good luck!

I would take the store credit and go find a book i want and purchase it; even though i would have to add little money in to the purchase; but hey i got a book that i would actually read and don't have.

If I was an avid reader I would take store credit and use it someday, in the future.
Or I would take the money and go to any store I want and get something I really want.
And send a Thank You card to whoever gave me the gift. and let them know just what I did get. Either one its your choice .

The giver never has to know either way. It's really up to you, but if you take the cash, you should use it to buy a gift for yourself that you really want.

I am a book freak, so I would take the store credit...which would be in keeping with the gift giver's intention.

Either one, doesn't matter. You can buy another book at the store or buy something else you want.

If there is a specific book you want, exchange it. If not, take the money, and buy something you really want and need. -L
