I often wonder the same thing. You can only explore your own religion so far when it comes to the intellectual comprehension of your beliefs, which I've tried so hard to do. But the biggest part is faith (which I still have such a hard time admitting to myself), and for me that grows when I am happiest. Be sure to attend masses/religious services as often as you can, and get what you can out of them -- ways to live your life in an expressly Christian way, and general advice on how to deepen your faith. It's always different for each person, I think -- some could just attend these services and grow in their beliefs, while others might (for instance) love the beauty of nature and would rather go on a walk in the woods just to see God's creation and affirm their beliefs by sight of His works.

It's something unique to each individual! Find what makes you personally happy, reminds you of your faith, and what you feel is "right" (examples: meditation, taking a hike, attending a church service, reading spiritual literature, community service...). You will find your way, especially since you are taking the effort to seek it! If you believe that God is all-compassionate, as I do, I'm sure He would be proud of your efforts to reach out to Him, whether or not your relationship with Him was neglected before.

God bless. Best of luck to you.

The thing about a good friend is that you know them.
To know someone enough to put your trust in them is like having a brother. To know your creator starts with his book of instruction, its the only way you can find out what type of God he is? He wants you to know what he plans for you and where you fit in his plans?
The First thing you need to do is question him, find out what he plans to do with his earth. At Mathew 6:10 people pray these words, but never analyze them. Read them and see what your are asking for? Then read Daniel 2:44.
So when he takes back his rule over the earth, then what happens? One of the promises he makes is found at Revelation 21:3,4. However for a person to be in his new kingdom they need to learn the rules that allow them to stay.
If you would like to ask questions and find out the truth of his word just ask away and see if you don,t get to know your creator who is the best friend you can have, because he is able to give you the real life here on earth and forever. Psalms 37:9-11,29

First, you do not need to be more "religious"... you may need to be less... The True Christian Faith is not a part of any man invented "denomination", sect, doctrin or dogma.
All who come to God in The Way He prescribes receive His free gift of Salvation. Those become part of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head...Those are the ones of The True Christian Faith..

Those of The True Christian Faith have a personal relationship with God... sometimes, as in my case mush of the time, a strained relation ship from the believers end... But The relationship allows for personal communication... If you are of The Faith then just talk to Him as you most trusted and faithful friend... which He is... If Jesus Christ is your Lord and Master... which... if you are of The Faith, He is... then ask God for forgivness in The Name of Jesus...be specific with Him as to the nature and details of the sins... and truly mean it when you state that you do not want to ever commit them again...you will fail in this many times... but God has infinite patience... do your best... and be as open and honest with God as you possably can be... no need to get all formal... just talk to him... in the book of Matthew chapt 6 at V 9 is a templet for how to pray... start with that and add your own words and needs.

If you feel that you are not truly of The Faith or have some questions concerning the basics of The Faith... feel free to email me... one honest question will receive one hones answer to the best of my ability... as a struggeling sinner myself I deal with my own difficulties communicating with God... it's a good thing God is good at understanding rambeling and babbeling... many of my prayers end up that way.

The reason you've been having a lot of trouble is that there's nobody on the other end. No gods exist. Some people just pretend they hear somebody until they convince themselves.

My advice: read The God Delusion, understand religion, and be freed from it forever.

Talk to God as you would talk to an elder friend. Study the bible. Attend a local church faithfully. spend time with other Christians.

Good luck and God Bless.

I only talk to God about important things.

Like WHY I'm so stupid

Or show me a girl who's available and would be a good wife.

Important things. I deal with the rest!

Don't worry about being religious. Just continue to do good, avoid evil and be kind to others and you'll be OK. It does not take religion to be a good person.

Religion is just a bunch of rules man made to get people to feel guilty in following them and giving up their money. Follow the Spirit and He will never lead you astray!
