I live in Whittier, which is 3 minutes away from Santa Fe Springs. If you are in Marina Del Rey, you would take the MTA Green Line to the Norwalk station at 605/Hoxie Ave. It is off Imperial Highway in Norwalk. You can take a bus down Imperial Highway to Santa Fe Springs. Either the Norwalk Transit #4 or one of the MTA busses. One way on a bus is $1.25. Round trip day pass is $5.00. What about taking the Metrolink train from Los Angeles Union Station to Santa Fe Springs and catching a bus to where you need to go to. It should not cost more than a couple dollars for the train...especially during off peak times.
I believe that its the Orange County Metrolink line that you want to take. Here is the website for Metrolink.

Good luck and have fun!!!!!!!!

it depends where in Santa Fe Spring you need to go
there is a direct bus from downtown LA
its metro line 62 which travels down Telegraph road
in Santa Fe (Telegraph being the main street in Santa Fe Springs)
see the schedule at

In addition to metro,
Norwalk transit also services this area as the city of
Santa Fe Springs has their own service (contracted out to Norwalk transit as well)
