You "can" saw it off, but it would be a very foolish thing to do.

Legally, the barrel length must be 16 inches long. You can be charged with a felony if caught with a shorter barrel. If 16 inches or longer, you can cut it.. but unless you have a crowning tool to fix the crown when you're done with the hack saw.. don't do it. The crown has to be perfect or you'll throw off the accuracy. You will also decrease the power of the round as you won't have as much length for the gas to expand before the bullet exits the gun. Your fps could go down dramatically. Cutting the barrel will also decrease the value of the gun.

Yes, you *can* saw it off. As long as you keep it a legal length (16" measured to the boltface....cut it no shorter than 16.5", though, to be safe).

The question of whether or not you *should* cut it off is another topic. It *will* decrease the value of the weapon radically, and will make it less accurate.

If you *really* want to go through with that, I suggest you let a competent smith do the work for you. It's worth the price.
