I grew up eating them sprinkled with salt sometimes. My husband (from Morocco) grew up with them sprinkled with sugar. The first time I had them out he thought it was sugar on their and got the surprise of his life! Anybody else have them with sugar before? I had never heard of it before him.

A lot of foods are prepared different. BRazilians mix avacado with millk, sugar and vanilla and make shakes out of it. Very very good, but weird. Becaue avacado is only for guacamole

I am with you, something besides a cucumber salad would be great like this recipe. What about a Bake Cucumber Rice. Chop up 3 cucumbers, then get 1 bag of rice. Sprinkle the cucumbers on top of the rise in a normal size baking pan. Put it in the oven( 375 degress) and let it cook for 50 mins. There is a delishous meal!

I've never tried just plain sugar on cucumbers. We've eaten them with our favorite salad dressing drizzled on the top of them. But my favorite way is to slice them round and also slice an onion and put them both into some sider vinegar/suger to taste solution and let them sit for half a day in the refridgerator. Then have them as a side dish at dinner. They make a good picnic take along for a reunion too.

I prefer them with salt of a dressing of some sort (that dressing may have a bit of sugar in it).
Like your husband, my husband eats them with sugar (his mother usually uses some vinegar also). They are okay this way.
I use cucumbers with milk in the blender to make shakes.

I have never heard of sprinkling them with sugar. We used to make a mix of vinegar, salt & pepper and soak sliced cukes in that overnight before we ate them. Just kind of a finger food, grab from fridge, kind of a thing. We would leave them in the vinegar (brine) till they were gone, and then recycled the brine with fresh cucumbers.

Often sprinkled with salt !
Sometimes pure lemmon juice on the slices of cucumber.
Perhaps our Swassa sprinkle sliced cucumber with sugar powder; because they are sugarphile. lol

We eat them with vinegar or in tossed salads with a variety of salad dressing choices.
We have never tried cucumbers with salt or sugar but have eaten tomatoes that way.
