Seizures (epilepsy) and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) are two VERY different things. You must get it to a vet to determine if it is epileptic or hypoglycemic. Giving honey to an epileptic dog serves no purpose. Neither genetic defect is "normal".

She either has epilepsy or hypoglycemia they're both very common in chihuahuas. I've had two chihuahuas that had both ... You NEED to get it to the vet immediately!
With hypoglycemia they're blood sugar drops which can cause seizures and you usually have to give them something like Karo or maple syrup to get their sugar back up. Usually a healthy diet will stop this.
With Epilepsy, the dog HAS to be on medications otherwise they will die very quickly. It's a constant regime of medication and blood testing and care and is very hard to cope with and is extremely expensive.
I recently had my beautiful baby chihuahua die of epilepsy so I know first hand how hard it is ... I've also fostered 50+ chi's and own 3 ...

Did the vet call it reverse sneezing? It is a common Chihuahua traiat. Not a seizure unless he is doing the sneezing and the seizures are something else. Chihuahuas can have seizures due to epilepsy, hydrocephalus, or hypoglycenia, but I think what you are referring to us the reverse sneezing.

If he has low blood sugar (is he a puppy?), he can have seizures. This is serious and he may need IV glucose to save his life. Tiny puppies prone to this need to be fed frequently throughout the day and night until they are a few months old.
If he is having epilepsy, then he needs bloodwork to rule out metabolic disease. He will need anti-seizure medication to prevent the seizures. If he has multiple seizures in a row, this could be life threatening. He could also have hydrocephalas, or water on the brain--more common in Chi pups.

Ok, any seizure is not "normal". But, if he/she is just shaking a lot she could just be trembling. Chihuahua, like mine, tremble when they are happy, sad, scared, hungry, cold, have to pee, excited, mad, etc. You get the point. It is part of the breed. But if it truly is a seizure, and is on the ground with their eyes rolling in there head, SOMETHING IS WRONG. You should get your dog to a vet asap.

i do not belive this is normal. you need to get the dog into a vet. and knowing that vets can be expensive you may also want to chekc with the local animal shelter. some area have programs that help ppl who cannot pay a vet with free or reduced price services. Im not by no means saying you cannot afford it but since we do not know each other then i feel obligated to suggest it. i have aslo included a site that has alot of article concerning seizures in dogs . hope it helps you, and good luck and God bless

If I were you I would contact a vet and ask them...
I don't think it's right for any pet to start having seizures so just to be on the safe side, I'd call.
I hope all is ok with your baby...

You really need to check with the vet on this one. Sugar is not a cure for epileptic seizures. Also, never put anything in it's mouth while it's seizing or you may very well cause it to choke to death.

Is this normal? Are you serious?!! Your dog is having seziurs and you haven't taken it to the vet im assuming because your asking questions about it. If they are diabetic then yes sugar, but if it is something neurological then the issue needs to be addressed by your vet. Seriously....get the dog to the vet!!! PRONTO!!!!
