I'm gay and 25 years old. I recently got out of a long-term relationship merely a few weeks ago. We lasted about 3 1/2 years. The relationship had ups and downs but my heart left the relationship a long time ago. Anyway, I almost immediately moved on searching for someone to simply date.

Anyway, I was EXTREMELY bored at home on a Saturday night and my friends were nowhere to be found. So I went to a chatroom where I met this guy who I click with. We met in person that night at his apartment and I still like what I see. I'm not sure how much he is into me, but I've already begun thinking about having sex with him, which I don't do so quickly.

Anyway, how long do you think I should wait before I do the deed?

I know when I do it I will be prepared and comfortable but how much time is suitable?

It most likely depends on what you're looking for at this point. If you want another long-term relationship, then you should take your time, and get to know each other a lot better before jumping into bed.

At the other extreme, if you are just looking for rebound sex, then you can have sex sooner.

It's kind of difficult to be more precise than that; from what I have seen, the dynamics of gay relationships can be very different than the relationships of straight people. However, if you share a lot of common values, goals, etc. then that's a positive sign.

Hopefully you are already well aware that most guys who hook up from chat rooms are just looking for a one night stand. But occasionally you'll find people who are looking for more, like real friendship or a LTR. If you want to have sex, have sex. If you don't, then don't. Just know that it may not be more than that. Still, while looking for Mr. Right, it ain't gonna hurt to enjoy a little Mr. Right Now.

I say go for it when you are ready. If you really click with him, and like him, and he feels the same for you, have fun. As to the first answerer, learn not to be bigoted before coming back.

Good luck!

I don't know what to say about this. How do your Mother feel about you been gay?
