i knew an airline pilot that did that, and he was fired and then blacklisted from working in his field for at least 5 years. He's back now but before he was tarring roofs and jobs like that.

That can only be determined by your boss. I suggest that you call and explain why you were not there, or if you were sick bring something from the doctors to prove it. Your going to need something..
