They sure can. That's what happens when ur involved in illegal activities. They been warning everybody for years they are cracking down on copy right infringement and a lot of people just laugh it off. Right here on answers I constantly see questions from people wanting to know where they can download free music and videos. It's called stealing. They need to get a lot more serious about it and start locking up a lot more people who think its alright to steal.

Yeah, I don't think the FBI went on an all out raid for "a couple of illegal copied CDs". They have better things to do. I have a feeling that your friend's aren't being completely honest with you, or you aren't being completely honest with us.
EDIT: 90 CDs still doesn't change anything. My cousin is FBI. They don't care about some burned CDs. Your buddies did something else that either they or you aren't telling us.

The FBI are going to say that the money was from CD sales to legalize what they did. Just as I thought they would do on this piracy stuff they scope people out with lots of money to bust. You can download that stuff all day long everyday and not get busted as long as you don't have a lot of cash. It's not right but it doesn't matter if they had 1 or 1000 CD's. If the FBI can prove they sold 1 CD they have had it.

Am I to understand that the proceeds from "a couple of illegal copied CDs" amounts to $20,000? Or was that the total receipts in the store from the CDs and the legitimate merchandise? There has just got to be more to this story than just a "couple of illegal copied CDs." Much more......

If the FBI raids a place it was for more than CD's. They had to do something bad for the FBI to come in. Yes they can take all the money, computers everything until they get to the bottom of it. It could take three weeks or three years.

The FBI wouldn't raid a store for a couple of illegal cd's. Sounds to me like theres something deeper here. Maybe, child porn on the cd's, or with that large amount of money sounds like he is doing some laundering and got caught. Serves him right.

Yep they do. It may not be right but they figure if he is selling stuff illegally that is where the 20,000 came from. He can file a claim to get the money back though as long as he can prove it was not money from illegal sales. I Hope he didn't talk to them without an attorney present. Anything he says can be used against him in court.

HUGE difference between a couple and 90! And yes, like many others said, they can take everything in there that they think may be in some way related to any crime until it can be proved otherwise. Besides, no one ever tells the whole story until Judge Judy or Dr. Phil gets hold of them. You're probably not getting the whole story either. Nobody wants to admit their a criminal!
