Oh I have one near me: the DUOMO of Milano. It's great, it,s a symbol of vertical lightness, as it would embarking itself towards the sky. Inside it's always a constant temperature, summer or winter, and the space seems expanding in perspectives always more far, and in the same time the sound of your voice go far there and return to you as a echo. All is decoration, the floors, the colonnades, the ceilings, the stained-glass windows. All the particulars sing a unitary human project, through the use of the rocks becoming alive song. Ciao and excuse my English.

I like them. Space, symmetry, and age. I like castles etc. because of the age. I live in the american north west and every so often I have flights of fancy. Of being Lewis and Clark....... or the early pioneers. I go to Europe and see the castles/cathedrals and well I have been so indoctrinated into American history/nationalism I dont get to have the exact same experience. I still try and its amazing to see them.

Goths is a modern day fad. Gothic is an architectural style that was popular in the middle ages. Visigoths were tribal barbarians from Norway who plundered pillaged and raped wherever they went. None of these "goths" have anything to do with each other.

Just wow. They are amazing architectural feats... and about the best things to come out of the Dark Ages. For the time, the scale and detail are amazing. They would be amazing if they were built Now! The glass was all hand-made on site, the stone cut by hand, not to mention getting it all together.

The tremendous space, the magnification of sound, the stunning visual features. Last one I was in is an Episcopal Catherdral in Spokane Washington. They are dimensionally out of scale - in the sense that their size makes me feel small.
