Absolutely Not! What is your mom's friend thinking? This puppy is way, way, too young to be taken away from it's mother and siblings like that. At 2 weeks old ,the puppy is still feeding from the mother, and half the time, doesn't even have it's eyes open yet. If the mother of the puppy, is still alive, you need to return the puppy back to it's mom and siblings, until it is 8 weeks old, at the youngest. If you don't return the puppy to it's mom, it has a very high chance of dying. Is that a risk you want to take? For the sake and welfare of the puppy, please give it back to it's mom, until it's old enough to take home with you.

Puppies should be 8 weeks before they are taken from their mother otherwise they are not properly weaned or socialized. It is between 5 and 8 weeks when a puppy learns how to socialize with their litter mates (other dogs) as well as humans. Removing puppies who are not properly weaned can lead to health problems. Find out why the woman wants to give the puppies away so soon. Has this woman been to the vet and had themchecked? If she is an inexperienced breeder or her dog had these puppies by accident then they may end up with health problems down the line and that will cause the dog as well as you a lot of pain and heartache.

Puppies that are two weeks old are too fragile and young to leave their mother, and that can lead to severe behavior problem, because introducing the puppy into the human world so early can make the dog confused, whether it' s human or canine, so that it is scared when it meets dogs and humans, which may bite as a kind of threat to scare people away, and this will not change even when it grows old, so you should not adopt the puppy until it' s older than 8 weeks.

The puppy needs to stay with mom and littermates for a minimum of 8 weeks. Early seperation can cause all sorts of behavioral issues, for example seperation anxiety. Not to mention a 2 week old puppy needs round the clock care, at 2 weeks old it can't even eliminate without being stimulated to do so.
Wait untile the puppy is older, and remember there is no such thing as a "free" dog.

Why not keep it with the mother until it is weened from her at 6-7 weeks old. Is there a reason she is trying to give it away so young? It would be a lot of work for you trying to feed it and take care of it like the mother should, being such a young pup. Unless it is in harm's way see if she can keep it for you another 4 weeks.

First off: Two weeks is MUCH two young! It msut be at LEAST six weeks before it can be seperated form its mom.
Secondly: There ain't no such thing as a free puppy, money and engery wise.
You must by bedding, food, pay for vet care, etc.
Also, puppies need near constant attention. They need to be trained (which is a long, grueling process for the owner, so don't think its an overnight deal), it must be walked, it must be played with...
Don't get it unless you know what you're getting to. Research the breed of dog it is, what care the breed needs, research training methods (trust me.. this is priceless!), and research responsible ownership.
Like I said, there ain't never was a free puppy, and it won't be easy. It's rewarding, but its not easy. So think long and hard.

You cannot take a 2 weeks old puppy from its mother - it is not weaned, it still needs to drink its mother's milk.
As to whether you should take it, do you feel you are responsible enough to care for it all its life?
Can you afford to pay for its shots, neutering, food, etc?
Will you make a commitment to take care of that puppy and give it a "forever" home? If you can say yes to all that, take the puppy - but not until it is at least 8 weeks old.

First there is not such thing as a free dog. You also much examine their reasoning behind giving the animal away. What has the dog been exposed to? A puppy vet bill cost approx. $200, plus the cost of heart worm and flea treatment. Puppies also have about 4 follow up visits in their first year as well. So it goes without saying their are any free dogs. I guess the free thing would be your time in house breaking, playing, and listening to the puppy cry its first few nights in his/her new home. Enjoy!

NO... 2 weeks.. That's just plain sick... 2 weeks old and she is still feeding from mom.. She can barely walk.. she just has her eyes open and can barely see, ears are not yet open, teeth are thinking of coming in.. You can't do anything with her but to feed her every couple of hours like mom would.. You will have a neurotic little screwball if you take that puppy on yourself now.

Not yet. A puppy needs to be with his mom for at least 8 weeks. So after he's 8 weeks old, you can have him. Before that, he needs his mother's milk and his mother will take care of him, keep him warm, clean up his poop and pee, etc.
