The Christians' objection to this argument involves freewill. They say that a being must have freewill to be happy. The omnibenevolent God did not wish to create robots, so he gave humans freewill to enable them to experience love and happiness. But the humans used this freewill to choose evil, and introduced imperfection into God's originally perfect universe. God had no control over this decision, so the blame for our imperfect universe is on the humans, not God.
Here is why the argument is weak. First, if God is omnipotent, then the assumption that freewill is necessary for happiness is false. If God could make it a rule that only beings with freewill may experience happiness, then he could just as easily have made it a rule that only robots may experience happiness. The latter option is clearly superior, since perfect robots will never make decisions which could render them or their creator unhappy, whereas beings with freewill could.

A perfect and omnipotent God who creates beings capable of ruining their own happiness is impossible.
Second, even if we were to allow the necessity of freewill for happiness, God could have created humans with freewill who did not have the ability to choose evil, but to choose between several good options.
Third, God supposedly has freewill, and yet he does not make imperfect decisions. If humans are miniature images of God, our decisions should likewise be perfect. Also, the occupants of heaven, who presumably must have freewill to be happy, will never use that freewill to make imperfect decisions. Why would the originally perfect humans do differently?
The point remains: the presence of imperfections in the universe disproves the supposed perfection of its creator.

True GOD is impossible!
Perfect or not, even after giving us so much, and we whining about God so much, calling names and hell bent on disproving God, God still loves each and everyone of us.
How can anyone do that? Instead of punishing us or reproaching us God still loves and cares for us.
God has to be impossible, utterly, impossibly in love with us.

Just because God is omnipotent doesnt mean he can create contradictions. In order to love, one must be able to hate. Therefore free will is necessary.
As far as being happy, sure that could happen without free will, but God would be restricting humans from making decisions on their own. I believe God is most loving by allowing the human race to make choices on their own.
The bible never says God has free will. Rather God is the same yesterday today and forever.
The imperfections of the universe, show how merciful God is to allow the human race to rebell against him.
Let me ask you a Q. If you did believe in God, would you want a God that gives free will, or a God that makes all the decisions for you?

No God. Only a science. From development in human history, a man is only several thousand year culture. Before that, the world was occupied by a large reptile. They are really a thousand times more longer history than us. The conclusion is human is made by nature not by God. God is created by someone who want to take control in human and money.

Freewill includes the knowing difference between what is good and what is evil. God has not created man to act like robots, since he created us "after his own image." But men are weak. God knows this too. Which, by the way was why He sent Jesus, to show men we should follow His example. When in doubt, ask yourself, WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? If you follow the doctrine of trying to follow Jesus' example, you won't have to ask so many questions! It just falls into place! We might sin, but if we realize we have sinned, however inadvertantly, then we ask God to forgive us. Just as you would ask your mother or father to forgive you for doing something horrible. Whenever I am in doubt, I ask myself, "What would Jesus do (in this situation)"? If Jesus' wouldn't do it, then I know I shouldn't.

Very good points. I've often wondered how an omnipotent god could allow such suffering in the world. Furthermore, why did "God" create beings capable of rational thought when the belief in a supernatural being is irrational?

alright i see where you are going with this. but your arguing point is alittle off. the arguement that christians make is not that humans need freewill for happyness, and that is why God gave us freewill. it is that God wanted us to choose to serve him. thus us not serving him because we are made too. that is why the whole adam and eve thing happened. now people serve and worship God becuase they want to not becuase they are programed too.

Impossible for those who have no God and do not believe in the existence of God. It is also impossible for those persons who are morons and idiots . They do not know how to use spiritual logic but believe on things that will bring them to the dark places where satan is bringing them.

God is a father and he cannot live our lives for us, as a father here cannot live his son's life. Say, your son is hanging out with a bad group, you can't lock him up until he's an adult. God gives us advise through the conscience mind about this world and the things in it, but whether we listen to it is our choice.

The Christian god was logically disproved ages ago. But those ignoramuses continue to reject sound doctrine and prefer to place blind faith into illogical and absurd ideas that are truly impossible. It's all about "going to heaven", nothing more, and that about raps up that whole religion.
