Hello,

After all the differences and quarrels I see between science and religion there is one bit of common ground both science and the bible agree on - there is no communication with the dead!

That said, if ghosts are something else then lets get on with it and catch or record one under scientific conditions. We can see and measure things and forces invisible to the eye from gravity to nuclear energy but ghosts or other crypto creatures supposedly from this realm or another are never captured.
Always more speculation, sightings, investigative reports, TV specials but no results... always a lyttony of excuses that we are close but conditions wern't right.

Cheers,

Michael

Do Christians Believe In Ghosts

2016-09-30 01:24:38 · answer #2 · answered by volstad 4 · 0 0

In my personal experience with friends who are also Christians it has varied. Some really believe they exist and others have stated that they believe the only ghost is the Holy Ghost. Me, I tend to think there are ghosts. I also think they can be of either good or bad origin. Since I have been an adult I don't recall having any "contact" so to speak. Although I remember a few incidences from my youth where I thought I had a ghostly encounter but it was probably my super over active imagination.

May people say that because the Holy Ghost exists that means ghosts in general exist - but the ghosts purported to haunt are what's left over from a person whose life has ended. The Holy Ghost was never in human form, so that would discount that theory. (That's why some Christians use the term Holy Spirit instead.)

The Bible says not to talk to the dead (paraphrase). If contact with those who have departed is impossible, i.e. no ghosts, we wouldn't have been told not to interact with them.

So yes, I believe that what I'll call a residue of the dead exists in our world - ghost is just one name for them.

Makes me leery to answer yes I do and only because I've seen and heard quite a few in my life. For some reason, I was raised to believe, too, that christians wouldn't or shouldn't believe in them and that they were of the devil. But I consider myself a good christian, and they are always around! The christian school I work at has a little boy "ghost" running around and witnessed by my daughter, too. I asked a Catholic priest after telling him about the ghost or spirit if they believed in them. He just shrugged his shoulders and didn't answer. Passages of the Bible state "giving or yielding up the ghost" when someone dies. (Acts 5:10 is one). So I believe there is a spirit released upon death; and as I've stated before, do we have a god-given spirit within us and an earth-bound spirit that follows us through life and this could be the "ghosts" or "spirits" many of us see or hear?

Christians that look deeply into the subject do believe in ghosts, but not like haunting people and stuff like that. Dead peoples' souls are ghosts until they get to where ever they end up and there is no Limbo!!!

This is a big debate amongst Christian Scholars for some reason. The A-typicle beliefe is that people go to sleep when they are dead until Judgement day. I personally dont believe this to be the case. I believe that life does not end even in death until God comes, makes alot more sence that way.

I believe in the Holy Ghost. The Word says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. So, no.

I beleive in the Holy Ghost (or spirit)

I do believe in angels,,they are sent to God's children as messengers, and as guardian angels for the Little ones.

I also believe in demons and the devil....they are always wandering around trying to see who they can tempt or snare with their lies...
