hi all...

I woke up this morning with my air conditioner going off then coming back on two times, then, off..

and, then, I realized, that how much I take electricity for granted..how blessed we are to have it..- really think about it-

finally, my electricity came back on, and, I thanked God, for it, because he created it, and, i thanked Our Lord God, that he created a man who could harness it... Ben Franklin...

what an awesome God we Have...thank you Jesus!!

God didn't have anything to do with it. If he did, that would make the advent of air conditioning predestined and that would mean we have no free will.

Think about it.

You're not satisfied with a Creator God -- one who set the universe in motion? He has to be an intervening God too -- guiding mankind to the holy air conditioner? Don't you see that, if God is an interventionist, we have no free will . . . and that would make us puppets and it would make God the guy behind the curtain.

Is this really what you believe?

How much thought have you given to your beliefs?

Ask your priest or pastor about free will and an intervening God.

Not sure what Jesus has to do with electricity.

Not sure that Ben Franklin harnessed it either (I thought he just showed that lightning was the same as the stuff that got put into Leyden jars, and also the inventor of the lightning rod which doesn't harness electricity but sends it into the ground).

Before electric lights were invented, people made do with a variety of lamps, lanterns, candles.

Yes I can imagine living without electricity.. Did it for 6 days this winter when a storm downed powerlines in a canyon..

Nope didn't thank any deity, I thanked the men and women at the local power company who worked day and night in freezing rain, hail, snow and high winds to bring the power back on line..

I thanked the other power company employees who worked 3 days and nights bringing up a local emergency power plant.. (Bringing it on line is supposed to take 7 days they did it in 3)... From cold to transmitting minimal power to the local hospital and nursing home facilities..

I thanked the employees and others at the hospital and nursing home facilities who syphoned gasoline from their own cars to keep the emergency generators running for several hours while waiting for a fuel truck...

I thanked the driver of the Exxon tanker truck who braved icey roads and bitter cold to haul in a load of gasoline to keep those generators running the last 2 days..

I thanked the local tree trimming company employees who went out in the bitter cold and cleared trees and rubbish from the roads allowing the fuel truck to arrive..

I thanked the local police department whose officers went door to door checking on residents.

Never did it cross my mind to thank a fictional deity... People are the ones who did the work to keep the town going and keep everyone safe during the outage..

Science discovered electricity. Science explained electricity. Science allowed us to produce electricity. Science was born during the Enlightenment. It's called the EnLIGHTenment because rationality usurped the irrationality of the Dark Ages which were dominated by religion.

You don't know what you have until it's gone.

Shame people can't see this in advance. 20-20 hindsight is a bithc.
