I purchased a dual xdvd8182 and the sub output is only a blue rca. i know that i need a y cable to split it to 2 channels but the onlys ones i found go from blue male which i know goes to the back of the head unit, to white and blue female which you plug the patch cable into from amp. But my problem is that my amp and patch cable has red/white rca's not blue/white. I was wanting to know if the red/white patch cable from the amp can plug into the blue/white input on the y cable. Thanks for the help.

The color of the cables makes no difference at all. You're splitting a mono signal into two mono signals, so the cable color doesn't matter. Go ahead and use whatever cable colors you can find.
