The one when Skinner gets sacked and Flanders becomes the school principal; towards the end, Bart is trying to get Flanders sacked and the superintendent doesn’t want to sack him but then he hears Flanders say over the PA, “Let’s all thank the Lord for another beautiful day.” Then the superintendent goes, “That sounds like a prayer. A prayer in a public school, a public school is no place for prayer…”

Another instance is when Homer is about to have heart surgery and he’s kneeling at the side of his hospital bed praying until a nurse coughs and points to a sign that says, “No praying.”

Am I reading too much into this or is it playing up the Christians annoying habit of thinking they’re being persecuted?

M.G is hardly an advocate for Christians but it must seem that he might have picked up that some Christians feel that way and then it makes for great television

(N.B the simpsons has been televised for 18years now they must have some recipee for success or all of us are really silly to continue to watch it night after night - P.s that episode was on last night where Flanders became Principle...)

with over 400 episodes, they've pretty much made fun of everything.

One of my favorite "god" moments was when Lisa was babysitting for Rod and Todd Flanders and they are terrified of a moth, which Lisa catches and lets go outside. Later, when the boys are saying their bedtime prayers one of them says, "Thank you for send Lisa to us to get rid of the moth that you sent to us."

I think they are pointing out that despite this nation being founded because people were seeking the right to religious freedom...now there are so many places that you CAN'T openly practice your faith without someone crying they are offended......I am a Christian....hey wait, I'll one up it, I'm a practicing Catholic...don't knock my belief's and faith's, and I won't knock yours.

I think they are pointing out hypocracy in our "free" country
