That means you're not stretching well enough beforehand, or you're working yourself too hard. Once you feel pain, stop! The phrase 'no pain, no gain' is a load of crap.

when I used to go to the gym I would get really sore the next day, so that night I would soak in hot water and put on some over the counter rub like bengey or Icey Hot , I would get the kind that doesn't smell or get it in a gel or roll on so I didn't have to get it on my hands. They have so many good things out now for hurting muscles even patches that continue to work for hours after you put them on. However maybe you are doing to much at a time , try cutting your time down using the weights or not using as much weight at a time and work up slowly to a higher weight. Always be careful with your back, that is a bigger problem than being sore if you hurt or pop out a disc in your back so please be careful, I know because I did it once and had to have surgery.

I read and did this after reading an article in Muscle and Fitness magazine. I was amazed how well it works.

Take a shower after workout
Warm water for 3-5 minutes
Cold water for 3-5 minutes
Warm water for 3-5 minutes
Finish w cold water 3-5 minutes.

Not only does it loosen up sore muscles, it invigorates your whole body. Try it.

You should put your hands in like a bowl or something full of cold water for a couple minutes or so and it helps to put your hands or whatever in the position that you were excercising or lifting weights

Start using Creatine supplements. They help out alot. Also, if the soreness persists, you may be OVER working out. But if you are new to working out, it is normal.

Eat healthy, stretch before working out and don't over exert yourself. It's also not healthy to lift everyday.

my boyfriend goes to the gym with a sauna. after his work out of lifting and cardio he sits in the sauna for 30min to 45min and he feels great. he can tell the differance when he is unable to sit in the sauna. if he does he'll soak in the tub with hot water for 20-30min. but he thinks the sauna works best.
