Does anyone know a simple way to cast circle?

You'll need something to represent the elements, inscence sticks (air), a candle(fire), a small bowl of water(water), and some salt(earth).
Light the inscence and the candle.
Take the inscence and walk around the space you wish to cast circle, and say
"by the air that is her breath"
Now replace the incence with the candle and repeat the motion around the circle and say,
"by the fire that is her bright spirit"
Now take the bowl of water, and dip your fingers into it, and flick water around the circle as you go, saying,
"by the living waters of her womb"
Now take the salt and sprinkle it around the circle saying
"and by the earth that is her body"
Now stand at your alter and say
"the circle is cast, we are between the worlds, byond the bounds of time, where day and night, birth and death, joy and sorrow meet as one".

As you move around the circle with the elements you should imagine/feel their qualities, their spirit surrounding and protecting you, and the space you'll be working in.
It's not a complex casting, but it is simple, and it is easy.

Start here: It is most convenient to mark the circle with chalk, paint or otherwise, to show where it is; but marks on the carpet may be utilized. Furniture may be placed to indicate the bounds. The only circle that matters is the one drawn before every ceremony with either a duly consecrated Magic Sword or an Athame. The circle is usually nine feet in diameter, unless made for some very special purpose. There are two outer circles, each six inches apart, so the third circle has a diameter of eleven feet. Having chosen a place proper, take the sickle or scimitar of Art or a Witch's Athamé, if thou mayest obtain it, and stick it into the center, then take a cord, and 'twere well to use the Cable Tow for this, and loop it over the Instrument, four and one half feet, and so trace out the circumference of the circle, which must be traced either with the Sword, or the knife with the black hilt, or it be of little avail, but ever leave open a door towards the North. Make in all 3 circles, one within the other , and write names of power between these. First draw circle with Magic Sword or Athame. Consecrate Salt and Water: Touch water with Athame, saying, "I exorcise thee, O creature of Water, that thou cast out from Thee all the impurities and uncleannesses of the Spirits of the World of Phantasm, so they may harm me not, in the names of Aradia and Cernunnos." Touching Salt with Athame, say, "The Blessings of Aradia and Cernunnos be upon this creature of Salt, and let all malignity and hindrance be cast forth hencefrom, and let all good enter herein, for without Thee man cannot live, wherefore I bless thee and invoke thee, that thou mayest aid me." Then put the Salt into the water. Sprinkle with exorcised water. ****** Learn what every single word in the above ritual means, which ones are used incorrectly, which ones are now out of fashion. Then get back to me. BTW, spells. Bah Humbug

The simpliest Circle I have ever cast turned out to be one of the most emotion-filled and Spiritual experiences I have ever had. My Dad had died a few days before the full moon---without any preparation, I went out into the field behind my house on that full moon. Using my right hand and index finger I visualized a bright light --pure love and great energy coming from my hand---with this simple visualization, I cast the Circle and offered prayers to the Goddess for safe passage for my Dad"s Spirit. I didn't use candles or any other ritual tools and yet what I felt that night was amazing. It was as though the Goddess came down to comfort me---I will never forget it ---Blessings!

Make permanent representations of your four elements, keep them on your altar and when you need a circle you can place this symbols around where you are planing to work. Stand in the center and point your finger and turn deosil (clockwise for non magick users) starting at east and just draw your circle in the air. When you return to east, say. "Guardians of the watchtowers, bless and protect this sacred space. As it is above, so it is below." You can't get much simpler unless you keep and active circle up all the time. This has many drawbacks being the constant cutting through and strangers (parents) walking through your private areas without knowing about the circle.

There are a number of ways to do this. The most common is to begin by drawing a circle (around a group or yourself) and invoking the one or more protective powers. Generally, this is done by candlelight, in front of an altar that holds certain magical objects. The circle may be further "secured" and "cleared" by using salt, salt water, rum, incense, or some other method. You may be wearing a special robe and will have taken a bath ( or performed a cleansing ritual) earlier. The powers that protect you will be called on and THEN you will begin your ritual.

where are we in the spiritual evolution of earth.... to know how far behind we are we have to understand why.... The spiritual persons those meant to be our teachers and examples in the spirit have been made extinct for centuries, and the civilization and societies that evolved around them have also been destroyed.... How did this happen? Looking at the history of the catholic and christian churches we see the devastation that occured wars, inquistions, crusades all lead to the destruction of the natural spiritual foundation of the earth... individuals murdered for no other cause than being opposed to the church not getting the support they needed to break the command the church had in the spirit of the world. these were called the heretics the witches, burned at the stake or hung without cause, without protection.... Today these problems are being corrected... the one we call mother is not a god but a human who went up against the catholic church and christianity and won... that is why the church is very male, and why they condemn the female ... they knew a woman would destroy their strong hold through prophecy, but what she did is free the spirit of nature to begin a new.... that is where we are today.... beginning a new.... Wicca is born from that time, just as the spirit was being free from it's imprisonment, ti's like waking up dazed really not quite sure what's going on... not able to guide yet. but changing to keep ahead of the church..... so it developed during nature's changes, and has no foundation only a history.... We are in a spiritual infancy, things like rituals, amulets, and stuff will all have to be rebuilt with nature..... Nature use to be one, acting, reacting, blindly evolving with life... bouncing off life, today nature has seperated itself into several independant guardians... it's all brand new for nature too... so we must start together, where there is a ritual it is for a purpose, where there is a person of spiritual sensitivity there is a responsibility.... I know this has nothing to do with your question, but it's as much for those who have practiced wicca as for those beginning their spiritual journey, We are all to learn together by first learning again to speak to nature through these guardians.... Communications with them is getting clearer everyday... eliminating what the religions do is the first job... I invite anyone wanting to work with nature in building a new relationship to join me in discusions at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gypsys_emporium/

Make sure you have a candle or something to represent each element at each quarter. I use candles in yellow for air, red for fire, blue for water, green for earth. Or you can use a feather for air, a candle for fire, a sea shell for water, and a leaf, dirt or salt for earth. Stand in the center of your circle or in front of your altar, using your power hand,(the one you usually write with) your wand or your athame, point it at what you want to be the edge of your circle and say: (this starts your circle in the East, if you prefer to start in the North, just put the North one first and work, North, East, South, West)

By the air that is Her breath (East)
By the fire that is Her bright spirit (South)
By the living waters that is Her womb (West)
By the earth that is Her body (North)
This circle is now cast,
We stand between the worlds,
In a time that is not a time,
In a place that is not a place,
Great Mother, Great Father,
Be with us this night!
Blessed Be!

Hope this helps you.
