Yeah, you are free to curse in society but do you realize how trashy you sound and look?

Theoretically no one should "cuss"; however, females cursing or cussing in polite society is really looked down upon by most people of class. Common coarse class people have no perception of this, I think, and are not aware of how it holds females back. There are exceptions, and some highly powerful women talk like drunken sailors, but behind their backs they are still considered low class. A similar, but less stringent standard is held to men, as well.

Cursing is no more acceptable from a man than it is from a woman. If a man can, a woman can. I personally don't do it and get annoyed when I hear people saying the f word after every couple words. I think it really just shows how limited their vocabulary is.

I don't see a difference between a man swearing and a woman swearing. If you think that woman should act all prim and proper and sweet, that's just not how people are these days.

The question should really be whether cursing is appropriate at all, but that's an entirely different topic.

I curse!

Having said that, I NEVER curse in public!! I have worked my whole life for intelligent, rich and classy people. I've NEVER heard any of them cuss in public. I always hear people at the restaurant, grocery store, on the street, etc, cursing. Both men and women. It makes them look like they are lower class. They are looked at in a more positive way if they say SHOOT! instead of s*** and DARN instad of D*** and so forth. They only swear in order to get attention. You can't tell me that men are proud of a woman who have a trashy mouth in front of his friends and mother! ohhh, wow! Women are always saying they want a man that BLAH BLAH BLAH! Including a man with money. But if they only knew, swearing and acting like a piggy ain't gonna get anybody nice! You reap what you sew!

I never ever curse in public or in private. My parents were very strict with us, they would slap us if we dared to say a bad word. I stopped saying bad words the day after I learned them. I thank my parents for teaching me good manners, Im so thankful that Im not a trashy woman.

But do you find men who curse trashy?

Having something against a small vocabulary, or lack of etiquette/manners is one thing.. but to turn it into a gender thing is more offensive than the original question of cursing.

Sure, but only if she's a sailor. If that is not the case, by no means should a women cuss. In all honesty, women who cuss only provide a glimpse into the limited vocabulary they have harnessed in their academic career (not to say that women have a limited vocabulary). A women who chooses not to cuss exemplifies true form and should be commended. It's also a shame to see a man and women who share the same dreadful word usage.

I think anybody who is excessively foul mouthed in public looks bad. I tend to avoid conversation with folks who curse excessively. Most adults curse, of course, and most people are able to evaluate who they are talking to and what kind of language is appropriate.

If a woman is excessively foul mouthed when I first met her, yes, it puts me off. She certainly isn't on my list of interests (as if that were some kind of yardstick), but it's not like I care to extrapolate her psychological profile or anything. Maybe she has this librarian friend with a better vocabulary than she does, you never know.
