First, make sure you have a support system in place -- other family members or a close friend. Then just be honest. From what you have said, be prepared for a negative reaction -- in other words - you may need a place to stay for awhile. Hopefully, their love for you will trump their homophobia. No matter what, be true to yourself and proud of who you are. I do hope things work out.

I'm proud of you! I'm 16 too, a girl though, and I'm straight. But, gay guys are awesome if that helps you! Where do you live? Anyway, this is the way I see it. Go to your parents on a day that they both looked calm and not stressed (if that exists :P) Tell them that you need to talk to them and tell them that your homosexual. Don't get an attitude or anything, stay calm, if your dad beats you, you need to call 911 IMMEDIATELY. That is abuse and I am so so so sorry that he beat you already. It is wrong and you need to get out of that house if it happens again. I wish you luck!

Wow. For your own safety, I don't think you should tell them yet. Do you have another family member you think you could talk to?? I really hope you do. If not, there's numbers you can call to get yourself out of that situation with your parents. Good luck. If you need anything else...sugar092790@yahoo.com

My question would be why? Sounds like that you need to keep that to yourself until you can support yourself and not endanger your life. Parents don't need to know everything about us.

Bring it up over Thanksgiving dinner. Be like "Mom, Dad Can you please pass the mashed potatoes? I like guys". There will be plenty of other family members there so I'm sure you would be safe for a while.
