Why would that seem odd???
My son is not religious, but he has a cross tattoo on his arm in remembrance of his grandmother, who prayed the rosary daily.
Tattoos are very individual. What you see on the outside may not represent what it actually means to the person who has it. I have a butterfly on a flower tattooed on my shoulder. Some people see it as "just another cliche tattoo", but when I was little there was a butterfly that would come & sit on a flower outside my grandma's bedroom window every day. She was bedridden with cancer. We would sit on her bed & watch it for the longest time. So to me, it represents a very special childhood memory with my grandma, who passed away when I was 16. I loved her with all of my ♥. I just don't understand why people have to be so-o-o judgemental!!

The symbol of the cross was originally used for fertility festivals by pagans at the time of Christ. A very lot of people have crosses as tattoos and they are surely not all religious. Its in the eye of the beholder.

I think it is kind of odd for people who otherwise could care less about God (and are not at all religious) to get a tattoo of a cross. But that is just my opinion.

Odd is the right word. My sister got a tattoo of a cross on her back and I saw it for the first time and did a spit take, because I was always so sure that she wasn't at all religous.

Perhaps its a way for them to feel closer to God or a little more spiritual. I'm sure there's a lot of different reasons. Tattoo's to some people are really personal so I understand in a way.

a cross, though commonly seen as a religious symbol is not the complete ownership of the religious community

The cross is not just a Christian symbol, you know. It's ancient and mystic... not really about crusifixion at all, which used to also be carried out on x shaped crosses and trees.

odd? it's hypocritical. It's something that posers get. Getting a religous symbol just for the sake of getting it is the stupidest thing you can do. Still it does not stop people from actually doing it, I have met people with crosses on their arms and shoulders and stuff, and when people ask them if they are religous and they say no, they always end up looking like fools.

Different symbols,
mean different things,
to different people.
Each to his own....
Getting a cross is
not about religion.
It's about faith, or
in come cases it's
just about choice.
