Most likely the Jews got the custom FROM the Egyptians, just like they got their official religion when Moses walked off with the ark and, probably, texts from the Temple archives when he cleared out of Egypt! If I recall correctly, Egyptian priesthood had to be circumcised; the laity was exempted from the custom.

I remember reading that some Egyptians in Bible times were circumcised. Some did it for their marriage (what a honeymoon!). None placed the emphasis on it that the Israelites did. Wikipedia makes reference to cave drawings in Egypt:
The oldest documentary evidence for circumcision comes from ancient Egypt. Tomb artwork from the Sixth Dynasty (2345-2181 BCE) shows men with circumcised penises, and one relief from this period shows the rite being performed on a standing adult male. The Egyptian hieroglyph for "penis" depicts either a circumcised or an erect organ. The examination of Egyptian mummies has found some with foreskins and others who were circumcised.

The Ancient Egyptians did circumcise,to my recollection, but I don't think they did at day 8 of life for boys as the Israelites did.

No ... they had natural fore skins which was acceptable to their god Ra. Only the Hebrews [Jews] had their covenant- instituted fore skins severed, as a binding agreement with the law.
