First, don't show off your knowledge of Spanish. The first sentence you gave is completely wrong.
There are several podcasts out there that start from the begining. http://www.notesinspanish.com is only an example.

Spanish is easy.

Como estas frijole cabrito? That means, how you bean kid?
(It's technically incorrect but the Spanish people will see the humor and offer you a beer.) Frijole is bean; cabrito is a young goat-a kid.

Bonus nachos. That is butchered Spanish for good nite.

Apple pie and coffee. When you don't know what to order or you are confused with the menu just order apple pie and coffee. Wait, that's for a non-English speaking person ordering. Nevermind.

S-O-C-K-S This looks like something you wear on your feet but if you say each letter distinctly it sounds like you are saying, that's the way it is. Eso si que es!

Cantale compadre! You have to yell this out anytime a mariachi band or a group of drunks break out in song and dance. It's a lot of fun.

Buena suerte.

P.S. I've been to Puerto Rico and I brushed against some Puerto Ricans on the bus but they call the bus the "wa wa". Over here, wa wa is slang used by children to refer to water.

There are many ways to learn another languages. I know 3 and am practicing another one and trying to learn a fifth one. The best courses are of course real classes, but then you don't know if the teacher is native or not to that language, they can say many things but they probably learnt it too. The other way is audio courses, they are usually recorded by natives. Also to practise try to use websites such as language exchange websites

Try taking classes or a video/pc teacher, like Rossetta Stone.

Also, listen to spanish music, search for the lyrics, translate them so you understand and sing out loud, that way you will practice pronuntiatiion and gain vocabulary. And, watch movies and TV in Spanish with english subtitles and the other way around.

Rosetta Stone - highly acclaimed language learning software... expensive but worth the price. Also you may want to check your town Parks & Rec or Dept of Education for outside classes such as conversational spanish... Good luck
