Just because there's no credible evidence that there is a god, that doesn't mean the opposite has to be true. And just because religions' descriptions, definitions and accounts of god are laughable or moronic, doesn't mean there might not be something else, as yet unimagined, that should be called god.

I expected a lot of editing on these "prove there IS a god" answers, overnight, but there's been very little.

Fine. Leave them. Be embarrassed and ashamed by them. I didn't say or imply that there must be a god. That was your own inference. I only said that there might be.

I readily concede there might not be a god, but notice that to state there isn't, as a fact, is to make a false statement.

I'm tempted to give best answer to Paul S because it comes closest to being a direct answer to the question, but it just falls short.

Instead, best answer goes to the one which best explains the rest of them.

Ah the fragile line that separates agnostics (like me) and atheists. For all the sensible things atheists say "There is no god." Takes away from it all. There could be. At least something that could be like a god. The universe is infinite so who's to say whats on the other end of it?
I don't hold it against the atheists though. They have been jaded by christianity.

I cannot accept a concept of a god as portrayed in any religion. However, I guess I could be wrong and that there is something 'out there', but I have yet to see any credible eveidence to sugest this. In a twisted sort of way, it's a question of faith!!

I think people just err on the side of caution when it comes to believing if things exist or not. Like most people don't believe in superhero powers because they've seen no evidence that they exist - that in it's self seems to be evidence for the idea that they don't exist, guess it's the same with belief in god/s. I'm agnostic because I think if there's no evidence for or against a god how will we ever know either way - so I accept that there is a possibility of god existing or maybe not existing.

I think people prefer to have set beliefs that god either definately doesn't or definately does exist, it's probably harder to live life thinking 'well I don't know, it could be either way' and maybe always wondering. So most people make their mind up either way and stick to that and defend their ideas because it's better than admitting that everything is uncertain and we just don't know!

So many innocent people are killed every year and so many live in poverty or are starving in third world countries that it makes it hard to believe that there is someone out there looking out for our best interests. This year I have watched a 23 year old girl die from cancer (she didn't smoke and was a wonderful person) and heard that my ex-girlfriends dad was murdered. Maybe your life is fun enough to believe that God is constantly looking after you but people like me see the world as unjust.

A truth is only true when it is proven to be true.
That is why believing in God is called a "belief".
And a belief is not a fact, so nor is it a truth.
And yes you are right, there "may" be something else.
but equally there might not be.

because I don't have a "feel" for it...that doesn't necessarily mean I think everyone else is wrong...it simply means that I don't have that gut feeling I need in order to be a part of something.

I'm not trying to start any arguments...just stating my personal fact.
