Normally when I eat spaghetti alone, I just slurp it up into my mouth and make a mess everywhere. I dip my bread in the sauce and go to town.....OK, so I am taking this new chick on a first date to an all you can eat spaghetti place. Should I eat like I normally do or should I use a stupid spoon and twirl the noodles?

Well since you asked. If a guy took me to an all you can eat spaghetti place on our first date I soooooooooooooooo would not be impressed. Take her somewhere decent, problem solved.

This is a funny, but good question! I would practice first if possible. What I do when on a date and eating spaghetti, is I either twirl small (SMALL) amounts at a time onto the fork and eat, or I use my knife and fork to cut the pieces into smaller sections so that when I twirl, there is actually an "ending" to the usual "never ending" amount of noodle being twirled! It does seem to work, and using either of these 2 methods, my favorite being the latter, I have never had to pretend to be full so I don't finish my spaghetti out of pure embarrasement! Sounds strange, I know, but I actually think about this stuff too! And you are lucky you are a guy! For some reason it seems less "cute" if a girl cant seem to eat without making a mess than if its a guy. (hmm)

Some Italians will tell you that you absolutely must use the spoon, and some people will dig on you, no matter how you eat your spaghetti. Then they wanna razz on the amount of cheese you use or don't use. All this at the freakin Olive Garden.

You are going to an all you can eat joint, anyway. That's a touch less formal. I'm not ragging on your choice of restaurant, I'm just saying that keeping sauce off your shirt and not talking around a wad of angel hair should do just fine. First dates are always better in a more relaxed atmosphere, anyway, however, spreading a napkin on you lap gets class points in every scenario.

When alone, I also gorge pasta.

And disregard all those girls who are telling you that you look cheap. McDonalds, on a first date, is cheap. An informal, good time resteraunt is not. If blowing your paycheck on one date, with a girl you don't really know, is what it takes to score the girl, then she's a snot that you will have to provide for. She is 'trophy wife' material, not someone you would actually want to hang around. Dollars spent does not equal care or level of fun, no matter what these pretentious, self absorbed harpies tell you.

I would suggest cutting the spaghetti into smaller pieces, or just twirl small amounts on your fork. Don't slurp and make a mess.

As far as the suggestion that you should avoid the spaghetti place entirely, I don't agree with that. If the girl is so pretentious that she is offended by you taking her for all-you-can-eat pasta or that you didn't use a spoon, then you're going for the wrong girl. Chances are that she will have fun and, contrary to what other people have suggested, she won't think that you're cheap (so long as you pay!).

Just don't be sloppy and mind your manners. That's all you have to remember.

Use a spoon and twirl the noodles,it isn,t stupid. This way you don,t make a mess every where and there isn,t rude slurping sounds. The Italians eat their spaghetti this way ,well at least the well mannered ones do.You can still dip your bread in the sauce.Eating this way instead, is sure to impress her.

Hey, at an all you can eat spaghetti place, I would think you could go to town. Warn her first. If she doesn't get it, then she's no fun!! Keep a lot of napkins handy, and make sure your mouth is always clean. And just slow down a little. Otherwise, what's the use of eating spaghetti??! Good luck! :)

You can cut the spaghetti into bite size pieces with your fork as you go. It is fine to use the bread to help scoop the spaghetti onto the fork.

Why don't you just take her out to a steak or mexican dinner instead for your first date?

You should be able to order the spaghetti sauce on a bite-size pasta like penne. If you really want spaghetti noodles, then cut it with a knife into bite size length then eat the forkful in one bite.

Spaghetti isn't a good first date choice. Pick something else you can afford and save the spaghetti when you get to know each other a little better.
