I love crispy skinned baked potatoes, and if you do too, here is how you make them. This recipe is for a large potato, so you will have to decrease the baking time by a few minutes for a small or medium one. Heat your oven to 450 degrees. Wash and dry the potato, then poke it a few times with a fork. Don't wrap it in foil. Just lay it on the rack in the oven and bake it for about 45 minutes, or until it feels a little soft when you squeeze it (with a hot pad on your hand, of course!). If you are in a hurry, you can bake it in the microwave for about 5 minutes while you are heating the oven. Then pop it in the heated oven for about 10 to 15 minutes, and you get a potato with that yummy crispy skin. If you like the seasoned baked potatoes you get at restaurants, before you throw it in the oven, just rub shortening all over it and sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and whatever seasonings suit your fancy. This makes the skins so yummy, my kids will even eat them. Baking at a high heat is the secret because it makes the skin crispy and the inside comes out nice and fluffy. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

1 Medium baking potato
1 teaspoon Olive oil
1/2 teaspoon Salt
2 teaspoons Butter
1 pinch Freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup Shredded Cheddar cheese

Preparation
1 Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).

Scrub the potato, and pierce the skin several times with a

knife or fork. Rub the skin with olive oil, then with salt.

2 Place the potato in the preheated oven, and bake for 90

minutes, or until slightly soft and golden brown. Slice the

potato down the center, and serve with butter and black

pepper. Sprinkle shredded Cheddar cheese over the top, if desired.

Cook's Notes
Variation: For a treat, try slicing the very top of the potato off rather than slicing it in two, forming a 'lid'. Scoop out the fluffy contents of the potato, keeping the skin intact. Mix the potato in a bowl with butter, grated cheese and black pepper, then spoon the mixture back into the skin. Replace the lid and serve.

Take a potato, scrub the dirt off with a brush.
Poke a couple holes in it with a fork or knife.
Wrap it tightly in aluminum foil.
Bake it in the oven at 350 deg F. for about an hour. Of course the length of time would depend on the size of a potato. But after an hour take a meat fork and poke it in the potato (through the foil) if it is tender it is done.
If you take it out too soon you can always pop it in the microwave for a couple minutes (without the foil, of course)

1.Wash a large baking potato,

2. stab it all over with a knife.

3. Place the potato in a sandwich size zip lock bag and make one small slit in the plastic.

4. Microwave on high for 7 minutes for a perfect
......baked potato every time.

The steam makes the peel come right off and it's edible if you're into it.
Be careful when you open the bag and handle with oven mitts.

1 baking potato

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Scrub the potato and prick it with a fork to prevent steam from building up and causing the potato to explode in your oven.
Bake for 1 1/2 hours.

If you have a microwave, put fork holes in potato, spray with PAM, and cook 4 to 8 minutes on high. The skin stays nice, the potato does not over cook, it's just perfect everytime.

Wash the potato and dry. Poke it a couple of times with a fork.
Brush with oil or butter.
Bake in center of oven for about an hour at 400 degrees.
The oil will crisp the skin and give a great flavor.
Serve with butter, sour cream, bacon bits and chives.

300 degrees...around 60 - 90 minutes...check after the first hour...if the fork goes in easy and comes out dry...it's done...wrap it in tin foil first...You can use anything on a BP...experiment with ingredients...I like the old standard...melted cheese and real bacon bits, butter and sour cream....
