Most tick bites are nothing to worry about. The majority of ticks you may see around your home or yard are sand ticks. Sand ticks don't carry lyme disease, which is really the only thing to worry about with tick bites. Deer ticks are the ones that carry lyme disease, but it's rare to get bitten by one. One way to figure out if it was a sand tick or deer tick is the size. A sand tick you can easily see on your body. A deer tick is only about the size of a pinhead and is very difficult to see on the human body. I got all this from a nurse at Ask-a-Nurse when my son had a tick in his neck. I wouldn't worry about it unless you develop signs of Lyme disease (which you would have to Google to get the full symptom list).

Ticks are really horrible critters...they embed themselves head-first into your skin, and it's REALLY IMPORTANT that you get them out before treating the bite they leave behind. Take some ordinary rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball or Q-tip and saturate the tick...this basically kills them and you can remove them whole and entire with a tweezer. Then go ahead and disinfect the bite [more alcohol, or soap & water] and then daub on some neosporin ointment [or trisporin, whatever you've got] and put on a band-aid so you won't irritate the bite area by accident--clothing or whatever. Some people really itch something awful with a tick-bite, and some do not. Main things: remove tick, disinfect bite area, put on antibiotic/neosporin ointment, band-aid. In a day or so, all you'll have left is a red spot...if the red area increases or if there is any swelling or red streaks, see a doctor. Mostly a tick-bite just fades off after you treat it. I was afraid too when we moved to the country and I got my first tick-bite. After that, we just treated it as shown above and didn't stay frightened.

Sara,
first if the tick is still there, use a pair of flat blade tweezers and carefully pull the tick off by grasping it as close to the head/jaws as you can, and pull in the direction that the jaws are inserted.

ticks come in many types, and I won't bore you with all the details, but to help you understand, some have specific details, I will use the lone star as it is not uncommon, the adult have a white dot on its back, and although the nymphs do not, they, like the adult cause a lot of itching at the bite site.

Okay, pull the tick off without using anything. You don't want the tick to spit anything in you if it has not started to feed. They will usually hang on for 12 to 14+ hours before they start to feed.

Take the tick, and using clear tape, tape the tick to an index card and call your county health department to have it tested.

many tick illness are very serious, some fatal, have you ever heard of hemorrhagic fevers? Ticks might have them

Here is the good news, on tablet every 4 to 6 hours for a few days and you will be good as gold.

do not destroy the tick, have it tested,

hope this help,

If you have a tick bite, more tha likely the tick will be on you. You have to pull the tick ALL the way off, make sure you got the head! There is only a little bite mark after it is gone along with a little bump. Sometimes it will itch a little. Other than that, it took about 1 day for it to be gone!

Did you get a " Bullseye Rash around the site of the bite??
Sure sign. However if you have reason to believe you have contracted an ilness from a tick bite, seek medical attention. ASAP. DONT PLAY WITH THIS. LYMES IS VERY PAINFUL AND DEBILITATING IF LEFT UNTREATED . Most cases can be succesfully treated in the early stage. Never had it ( lymes) but know a guy who was treated succesfully, but he read about the symptoms.

i just had one! take tweezers to the very head of it and pull it out slowly! dont crush it with the tweezers! that could be pretty bad! also, if the tick is really small, it could be a lymes disease tick, in which case you should see a doctor....if it's a bigger tick, those are the okay ticks! either way, chances are moreso you'll be okay...just watch the area for a bullseye or swelling or bruising...and if you see somethng, go to a docotor asap!!! also, when you pull the tick out, put it in a water bottle filled with gasoline and dump it somewhere!!!

My cousin got bit by a tick. She felt very tired and light-headed. Her body also hurt every now and then. If you want to take care of it, you should see a doctor ASAP! And you should have took the tick off ASAP if it was still on you. I hope everything turns out well.

In certain tick bites you can develop lime disease which can cause a circle shaped bruise with lots of bad symptomps

Often lyme disease goes mid diagonosed and can lead to death and bad health.

Even blood tests for lyme disaease are inaccurate.

Dispite being scared i suggest tyou look it up.
