Most people who dont work a a dealership have no clue what this C-K thing means. This is the first question i asked the service manager when i got my job at a chevy dealership.I told him on tv the C-K trucks were on sale.He told me this is the code the factory uses on trucks. The C is a two wheel drive truck and the K is a four wheel drive truck. This has helped me the last 19 years working in the chevy dealership.Hope this helps.

this is referring to the build. the K is designated for four wheel drive and C is for the two wheel drive, this is for full size only. for the smaller S-10, Sonoma, Trailblazer,Envoy, Canyon and Colorado. theyre codes are S-2wheel drive and T-four wheel drive.
this is indicated by the fifth letter in the VIN Code.

C series were the 4x2 version
K series was 4x4 trucks
It was a designator Chevy used from 1960-1998 and GMC from 1960-1988
Chevy also used a R and V designator for certain trucks from 1987-1991 (R being 4x2 and V being 4x4)
