Okay so I ecived this in an e-mail...
As you may have realized from our website,
we can only accept applications from U.S. citizens or permanent
residents who are also members of a Southern Baptist church...

So if I am an american, must I be in the S.B. Church? Thats all! Thank you!

It sounds like if you are a citizen, you do not also have to be part of the church, but I can see that it is written in a confusing way. Did you leave out any punctuation?

If there were commas, it would be "from US Citizens, or permanent residents, who are also members", and then, you would need to be both. I'd just e-mail back and ask them to clarify.

"we can only accept applications from U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are also members of a Southern Baptist church"

Requirements for application are: 1) U.S. Citizen, and 2) member of a Southern Baptist Church.

The answer to you question is "Yes"

I'm a US citizen and I DO NOT belong to a Southern Baptist Church.

So, to answer your question in a single word, No.

Why? Freedom of religion.

If that is what they've specified, I suppose that is what they'll hire for, but it is probably against federal legislation on discrimination if it is a public sector job or at a non-religious private organization. A corporation can't refuse to hire you or give preference to someone else because of religion.

looks like that's what it says, you got to make choice, you call or send a email to the entity that is advertised on the site and request clarification or just ignore it and find another. it's not worth the worry.

Most of the denominations have rules and must do's. So many that God gets lost in the mess.
